 Ohunbe Bye-Election: 19 Political Parties Contest as APC Emerges Victorious



No fewer than 19 political parties contested in the recently conducted bye-election across 24 polling units of Ohunbe Ward 8, in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.


The Ward OGSIEC Returning Officer, Mr. Kabiru Oyeyemi, declared Moses Opeisa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the keenly contested election. Opeisa secured 2,255 votes out of a total of 3,263 votes cast.


According to Oyeyemi, the exercise commenced at 8:00 am with security agencies on the ground to maintain order. He expressed satisfaction with the cooperation of the voters and the various party agents present.


Reacting to the outcome, the Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, described the exercise as peaceful and orderly, praising the people of Ohunbe for their commitment to electing a new Councillor to represent their interests.


Represented by OGSIEC Board Member Commissioner Ayodele Bankole, the Chairman applauded the electoral officials and security personnel deployed to the polling units and collation center for their professionalism.


The Olohunbe of Ohunbe Land, Oba Adekola Oladokun, also expressed appreciation to the OGSIEC team for conducting a smooth, free, and credible election. The monarch further extolled the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government for its ongoing development strides across the state.


Voters at the collation center, including Mr. Kehinde Fatunbi and Moses Olawale, commended the process, describing the atmosphere throughout the exercise as peaceful and transparent.
