The Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, on Friday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained grassroots development as Ogun State marked its Golden Jubilee celebration at the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Secretariat.

Delivering a keynote address at the event tagged “The Celebration of Ogun @50 in the Local Government of Distinction,” Hon. Wasiu described the occasion as historic, noting that it was the first of its kind in the annals of both Ogun State and Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government.


The chairman l, Hom. Lawal Wasiu paid glowing tribute to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun (CON, MFR), for what he described as a “remarkable turnaround” in the state’s development trajectory since assumption of office.

“Today’s celebration is not just ceremonial; it is a celebration of infrastructural development, technological advancement, socio-economic transformation, political progressiveness and improved educational standards across Ogun State,” Wasiu said.


He noted that the Abiodun administration’s ISEYA mantra has translated into tangible achievements in road construction, housing, healthcare delivery, school infrastructure, power supply and investment promotion, making Ogun State increasingly business-friendly and habitable.


Speaking on the impact of state policies at the local level, the chairman expressed appreciation for the governor’s special interest in Ado-Odo/Ota, particularly in the area of road networking and infrastructural upgrades.

“On behalf of the good people of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, we sincerely thank His Excellency for the visible interventions that have improved connectivity and economic activities within our communities,” he said.

Hon. Wasiu also outlined key priorities of his administration, including the renovation of dilapidated primary school classrooms, construction of new blocks, provision of furniture and instructional materials, and incentives to encourage academic excellence among pupils.


According to him, efforts are equally underway to strengthen primary healthcare delivery through the renovation of health facilities and the provision of essential medical equipment across the local government.
On staff welfare, the chairman assured workers of continued attention, disclosing that his administration has prioritised prompt payment of salaries and allowances, while reviewing staff welfare loans to reflect current economic realities.


He also commended party leaders in the local government for their moral support and praised career officers for what he described as their professionalism, efficiency and effective service delivery.
Special appreciation was reserved for the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, whom the chairman described as “a true daughter of the soil,” thanking her for her unwavering support and presence at the celebration, which he said added colour and prestige to the occasion.

“As we celebrate Ogun @50, we assure our people that more dividends of democracy will continue to roll out. We solicit your support to ensure that progressive governance continues for the total transformation of our local government, the state and the nation at large,” Wasiu added.

He concluded by expressing optimism for the future, praying that citizens would be alive and well to witness the Diamond Jubilee of Ogun State.

The event featured goodwill messages from political leaders, traditional rulers and community stakeholders, reinforcing a shared commitment to unity, progress and sustainable development in Ogun State.

“Long live Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government. Long live Ogun State. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the chairman declared to resounding applause.
