Ancestral Pride Foundation Empowers Students with UTME Sponsorship in Ilogbo-Ota

Students in Ilogbo and its environs received a major educational boost as the Ancestral Pride Foundation, Ilogbo Chapter, held its maiden Award and Certificate of Sponsorship ceremony for UTME beneficiaries.

The event, which took place on Saturday at the Oba Onilogbo Asowo Palace in Ilogbo, within Ota, attracted traditional rulers, education stakeholders, community leaders, and residents who gathered to celebrate the initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence among youths.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Royal Father of the Day, Samuel Olufemi Ojugbele, commended the foundation for its commitment to uplifting the community through education. He described the initiative as timely and impactful, urging beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and justify the confidence reposed in them.

The Chairman of the Day, Abideen Olukunmi Akinpelu, also lauded the organisers for investing in the future of young people. He emphasized the importance of education as a tool for societal development and encouraged other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the gesture.

In his remarks, the Chief Host and President of the foundation, Fasola Faniyi Babatunde, reiterated the group’s dedication to promoting African cultural heritage while supporting human capital development. He noted that the sponsorship of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates is part of broader efforts to reduce financial barriers to education.

According to him, the initiative is designed not only to assist indigent students but also to inspire a culture of academic pursuit and self-development within the community.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of sponsorship certificates to selected beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude to the foundation for the opportunity to pursue higher education.

The Ancestral Pride Foundation stated that it plans to sustain and expand the programme in subsequent editions, with the aim of reaching more students across Ilogbo and neighbouring communities.

The initiative marks a significant step toward community-driven educational support in Ilogbo, reinforcing the role of grassroots organisations in shaping a brighter future for Nigerian youths.
