ENUGU, August 4, 2026 — The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially handed over its Digital Industrial Park (DIP) and Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) facilities to the Enugu State Government as part of efforts to deepen digital skills development and promote technology-driven economic growth in the state.
The handover ceremony, held at the Enugu State Government House on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, brought together top officials of the NCC and the Enugu State Government.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, formally handed over the facilities to the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah.
The initiative is expected to strengthen access to digital training, enhance technology skills and create opportunities for young people and other residents to participate more effectively in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
Speaking during the ceremony, the NCC leadership reaffirmed the importance of developing digital infrastructure and human capacity as essential components of Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
The Digital Industrial Park and Digital Bridge Institute are designed to support digital learning, innovation, skills acquisition and capacity development, particularly in areas that can prepare beneficiaries for emerging opportunities in the technology and digital economy sectors.
The handover also underscores the importance of collaboration between the Federal Government, through the NCC, and state governments in expanding the reach and impact of digital development initiatives across Nigeria.
Governor Mbah received the facilities on behalf of the Enugu State Government, with the development expected to further complement the state’s efforts to build a technology-driven economy and equip its citizens with relevant digital skills.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, and the Secretary of the NCC, Mr. G.T. Mohammed, among other officials.
The NCC’s intervention in Enugu reflects the Commission’s broader commitment to supporting digital inclusion, capacity building and the development of an ecosystem capable of harnessing information and communications technology for economic and social advancement.
With the formal transfer of the facilities to the Enugu State Government, stakeholders are expected to leverage the infrastructure to expand digital education, foster innovation and improve opportunities for technology-enabled employment and entrepreneurship in the state.
