Adegbenro Polytechnic Clocks 20, Admits 2,400 Students
D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic has marked its 20th anniversary with the matriculation of 2,400 students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The event, held brought together management, government representatives and security officials to celebrate two decades of the polytechnic’s academic journey.
Breakdown of the newly admitted students showed that 1,300 were enrolled into National Diploma (ND) programmes, while 1,100 gained admission into Higher National Diploma (HND) courses across its four major schools.
The Rector, DS Adegbenro ICT, Prof Adegoke Akeem Rauf while addressing the newly admitted students at the Mass Communication complex of the institution at Itori, Ogun State said gaining admission into the polytechnic was only the beginning of a demanding but rewarding journey.
He described the anniversary as a defining moment for the institution, noting that its growth over the years reflects dedication to quality technical education and human capital development.
According to him, "students must go beyond classroom learning by developing practical competencies and digital literacy needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global environment".
Rauf warned against indiscipline adding that the institution would not tolerate cultism, examination malpractice or any act capable of disrupting academic activities.
The Chairman, Adegbenro ICT Governing Council Mr Toye Okanlawon, ably represented by Kayode Olunuga urged the new students to distinguish themselves through good conduct and academic excellence.
He affirmed that the institution is committed at strengthening infrastructure, upgrading academic programmes and fostering partnerships that would enhance innovation and employability of graduates.
Speaking, the Divisional Police Officer, Itori division, Mr Dapo Ojekunle, cautioned the students against criminal tendencies, particularly cult-related activities, and advised them to use social media responsibly.
The Commissioner, Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Prif. Abayomi Arigbabu, represented by Mrs Mary Aminat commended the institution for its contributions to educational development in the state encouraging the students to uphold the values of discipline and excellence.
