The administration of the Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, has recorded significant strides in grassroots development, with major interventions spanning roads, drainage, electricity, water supply, education, healthcare, agriculture and environmental improvement across the council’s 16 wards. 

The Local Government boss, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu made this revelation while delivering his a speech at the opening of commissioning of projects at the Local Government's in Ota adding that the projects, covering 2025 and 2026, include the grading of rural roads, construction of culverts and drainage systems, provision of solar-powered and motorised boreholes, renovation of public schools and health facilities, improvement of electricity infrastructure and upgrading of the Local Government Secretariat.

He said a major component of the administration’s intervention has been road infrastructure and flood control. Rural roads have been graded with laterite across the 16 wards, while drainage and culvert projects have been executed at Odo-Salawa-Igbale-Akinbo-Okede Road, Oloja-Ekun Palace in Igbesa, Olosun-Itamaje and Matina/Plaza Road in Sango. 

Lawal added that the council also constructed a box culvert at Ewupe/Ijaye in Ilogbo Ward and undertook road palliative works along Olosun-Itamaje Road. The projects are expected to improve movement of people and goods while addressing some of the drainage challenges confronting communities.

He said Electricity supply has also received attention, particularly in Alapoti Ward, where the chairman said some communities had been without electricity for about 15 years.





"The administration procured, installed and energised a 300KVA/33KV transformer at Inawole-Idosaba Village, alongside the distribution of low-tension cables, while low-tension line distribution was also provided for electrification at Idobarun, Ado-Odo. The intervention, has brought relief to residents and business operators and created renewed opportunities for commercial activities in the affected communities,

Access to water has equally been prioritised through the provision of motorised and solar-powered boreholes. The projects include solar-powered boreholes at Agbara Village, Medina in Agbara Ward and Igufin in Ado-Odo Ward 2. In 2025, motorised boreholes with generators were provided at Akinde Village in Iju Ward, Idioke in Ketu Ward, Ewupe Road in Ota Ward 2 and Ado-Odo Ward 1. Education and agriculture have also received attention, with furniture provided for public primary schools in Igbesa and Ere wards, renovation of classrooms at Akasun and All Saints Primary School, Igbesa, while the Local Government poultry pen at Ado-Odo was renovated, battery cages procured and 1,000 day-old birds reared", he explained.

Speaking at the event, the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ekun 11, commended the administration for its achievements, noting that the projects had contributed to the development of the Local Government.


 He also acknowledged the role of the Local Government legislative arm in facilitating the administration’s activities and appreciated the Ogun State Government for the speedy release of funds which, he said, had given credence to the execution of the projects. 

The monarch’s remarks underscored the importance of cooperation among the executive, legislative and state government arms in delivering meaningful development to the grassroots.

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kazeem Salako, also commended the administration, describing the timing of the commissioning of the projects as appropriate noting that the commissioning provided an opportunity for the people to witness and assess development projects delivered by the Local Government.

Speaking on behalf of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, commended the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government administration for what he described as judicious utilisation of available funds. 

He stressed the importance of prudent management of public resources, noting that the projects commissioned demonstrated that government funds could be translated into tangible development when properly utilised. He encouraged the council to sustain the momentum and continue to channel resources towards projects that directly improve the welfare of residents.
