OLOTA DECLARES SECURITY EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY, URGES COMMUNITY VIGILANCE
The Olota of Otaland, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege, has emphasized that security is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of all citizens through vigilance, lawful conduct, and support for security agencies.
The monarch, who was represented by the Seriki of Ota, High Chief Olarenwaju Bashorun, made the declaration while addressing a peaceful protest held at the Olota Palace in Ota.
The protest attracted sympathizers from various communities across Ota and its environs in response to the recent abductions of teachers, schoolchildren, and other innocent citizens in Oyo State and several parts of the country.
Speaking on behalf of the monarch, High Chief Bashorun conveyed Olota's deep concern over the growing security challenges confronting the nation and stressed the need for residents to remain alert and work closely with security operatives to safeguard their communities.
According to the royal father, proactive measures have already been initiated to strengthen security architecture within Ottaland disclosing that strategic consultations had commenced with traditional rulers, Baales, security agencies, and Community Development Associations (CDAs) to address security concerns and enhance local vigilance across communities.
“We remain committed to the peace, security, and well-being of every resident within Ota and Aworiland. I have summoned traditional rulers and Baales across the kingdom for urgent deliberations on how communities can support ongoing security efforts and ensure that criminals find no hiding place within our domain,” the monarch stated.
Olota further appealed to residents not to allow fear to overshadow hope, assuring them that the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is actively implementing comprehensive measures to tackle insecurity nationwide urging Nigerians to continue supporting lawful authorities and cooperating with security agencies in the collective fight against criminality.
“Government is not folding its arms. The administration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly with security agencies to guarantee the safety of lives and property. Nigerians should continue to support lawful authorities and cooperate with security agencies. In a short while, the country will overcome these challenges,” he said.
The monarch reiterated that security should never be left to government alone, noting that community participation, intelligence sharing, vigilance, and adherence to the rule of law remain indispensable tools in combating crime and ensuring lasting peace and stability across the country.
