 Out of Federal Government's Multi-Billion Naira Cash Transfer Programme, ₦101.25m Hits Ado-Odo/Ota as 1,350 Households Benefit




















No fewer than 1,350 shortlisted households of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have benefitted  from a total cash intervention of ₦101.25 million under the Federal Government's Household Prosperity and Empowerment – Cash Transfer (HOPE-CT) programme, as the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR gains momentum in the Local Government Area.


The beneficiaries, drawn from the National Social Register, have commenced receiving debit cards through which the Federal Government will disburse the funds in tranches under the national social investment programme aimed at improving the living conditions of vulnerable households and promoting economic inclusion.


The distribution exercise, held at the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Secretariat, Ota, marked another milestone in the Federal Government's commitment to poverty reduction, social protection and financial empowerment of low-income Nigerians.


Speaking during the exercise, the Ogun State Programme Manager of the State Cash Transfer Unit, Mr Damilola Owoojuona described the initiative as a strategic intervention designed to provide direct financial support to vulnerable citizens and strengthen households' resilience against prevailing economic challenges.


He disclosed that the beneficiaries from Ado-Odo/Ota LG formed part of over 23,000 shortlisted households across Ogun State captured under the programme, at this batch  benefit from the intervention.


According to him, each beneficiary is entitled to a total grant of ₦75,000, payable in three tranches of ₦25,000 each through the debit cards issued under the scheme. This translates to a total disbursement of ₦101.25 million for the 1,350 beneficiaries in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, while Ogun State as a whole is expected to receive about ₦1.7 billion under the Federal Government's Household Prosperity and Empowerment – Cash Transfer (HOPE-CT) programme, in this phase.


"The HOPE-CT programme is a Federal Government grant established to improve the living conditions of poor and vulnerable households. Each beneficiary will receive ₦75,000 in three instalments of ₦25,000 each," he said.


The Programme Manager further assured beneficiaries of the commitment of both the Federal and State Governments to ensuring transparency, accountability and fairness in the implementation of the programme

as well appreciating His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, for keying into the initiatives in 2020.


He explained that the disbursement process is anchored on National Identification Number (NIN) biometric verification to ensure that only duly verified and eligible beneficiaries receive the intervention funds.


Also speaking, the Head of Operations of the State Cash Transfer Unit, Mrs. Eniolawun Oluwakemi, disclosed that various Beneficiaries' success stories had been documented from earlier recipients of the intervention across the State.


She noted that many beneficiaries had utilised the grants to improve household welfare, support their children's education and expand small-scale businesses, expressing optimism that beneficiaries in Ado-Odo/Ota would equally deploy the funds towards productive and sustainable ventures.


Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Oluwadamilola Olayode, Mr. Taofeek Adeleke and Mrs. Fabiyi Mariam, commended both the Federal and State Government for the intervention, describing it as timely, impactful and capable of improving their socio-economic wellbeing.
