LASU Invites Abstracts for 8th Research and Innovation Fair 2026
LAGOS – Lagos State University (LASU) has called on researchers, academics, innovators, policymakers, industry professionals, students, and members of the public to submit abstracts for presentation at its 8th Research and Innovation Fair scheduled for September 2026.
The Directorate of Research Management and Innovation, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, announced that the fair will focus on the theme: “Accelerating National Development through Artificial Intelligence-Driven Research and Innovation.”
The two-day event is slated for September 8 and 9, 2026, at the Aderemi Makanjuola Lecture Theatre and will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both physical and virtual participation.
According to the organisers, the fair aims to provide a platform for intellectual engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the exploration of innovative solutions powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address contemporary national challenges.
The conference will feature discussions around key sub-themes, including opportunities, risks and ethical use of AI in teaching and research; AI applications in agriculture, healthcare, energy and human resources; and the role of AI in enhancing security, safety and policy transformation.
Interested participants are required to submit a one-page abstract of not more than 300 words, structured under the headings of Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusion. Submitted abstracts must align with the conference theme or any of the identified sub-themes.
The deadline for abstract submission is July 31, 2026.
Organisers noted that registration and payment must be completed and verified before abstracts can be submitted. The registration and submission portal is available through the LASU website.
Registration fees for the early bird category are ₦10,000 for undergraduate students, ₦15,000 for postgraduate students, ₦25,000 for staff-student participants, ₦30,000 for individual participants, and ₦20,000 for online participants.
The university also announced that late registration will commence on August 3, 2026, attracting an additional fee of ₦10,000.
LASU encouraged prospective participants to take advantage of the opportunity to engage with leading scholars, innovators, policymakers and industry experts while contributing to discussions on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in accelerating sustainable national development.
The institution urged interested participants to submit their abstracts promptly and be part of conversations shaping the future of AI-driven research and innovation in Nigeria and beyond.
