Olota Advocates Greater Commitment as LASU Radio Marks 10th Anniversary
The Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, has urged students of Lagos State University to maximize opportunities provided by campus media platforms in building successful careers in the communication industry.
Kabiyesi gave the charge while attending the 10th Anniversary celebration of LASU Radio 95.7FM held on Tuesday at the Femi Gbajabiamila Hall, Ojo campus of the university.
The royal father was warmly received by lecturers and students of the Department of Mass Communication, led by the Dean, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Professor Jide Peter Jimoh.
Speaking during the event, the monarch described radio as one of the most powerful and accessible tools of communication, noting that it continues to play a significant role in information dissemination, education, cultural promotion, public enlightenment, and community development.
He encouraged students to remain dedicated, innovative, and professional in their academic and career pursuits, stressing that campus radio stations provide valuable practical experience for aspiring media practitioners and future industry leaders.
In recognition of his immense contributions to the growth of the media industry and his unwavering support for communication development, the monarch was presented with an Award of Excellence at the event.
Speakers at the anniversary celebration also noted that despite the rapid expansion of digital media, radio remains relevant due to its wide reach and ability to connect directly with the people.
