MTN Nigeria has announced the selection of 25 media practitioners and digital content creators for the fifth cohort of its Media Innovation Programme (MIP), a flagship initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s media ecosystem through capacity building, innovation, and leadership development.

The programme, delivered in partnership with the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, continues to serve as a professional development platform for journalists, broadcasters, and digital creators seeking to adapt to the rapidly evolving media landscape.

This year’s edition features an expanded intake of 25 fellows, up from 20 in previous cohorts, marking a special increase tied to MTN Nigeria’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The selection was drawn from a highly competitive pool of applicants across print, broadcast, digital media, and content creation sectors.

Speaking at the opening session, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Tobe Okigbo, described the programme as a reflection of the company’s commitment to innovation, partnership, and continuous learning.

He said the fellowship challenges participants to rethink assumptions, sharpen ideas, and grow professionally through structured exposure and mentorship.

Dean of the School of Media and Communication at Pan-Atlantic University, Dr. Ikechukwu Obiaya, urged participants to view the programme as more than a career milestone, stressing its role in shaping responsible media practitioners.

He emphasized values such as truth, ethics, and social responsibility as central to addressing today’s media challenges.

The six-month fellowship commenced on Monday, May 18, 2026, and will feature intensive training in media innovation, digital transformation, storytelling, strategic communication, and leadership development.

Participants will also embark on a one-week study visit to South Africa as part of the international learning experience embedded in the programme.
