Ogun Deploys Tricycle Ambulances Across Ado-Odo/Ota to Boost Emergency Response

In a decisive move to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery, the Ogun State Government has strategically deployed tricycle ambulances across all 16 wards of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government to ensure swift emergency intervention, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.

The Medical Officer of Health/ Health Secretary, Ado- Odo/Ota Local Government Dr.Jelili Bakare disclosed this during the launch of the pilot scheme held in Ilogbo-Ota, noting that the initiative forms part of the state’s newly introduced 24-hour ambulance and emergency response service aimed at improving access to urgent medical care and reducing preventable deaths.
He explained that under the new programme, residents can now access round-the-clock emergency transport and care services, especially for vulnerable groups and victims of accidents.

According to him, the emergency package includes transportation for pregnant women at any time of the day, emergency transport services for children under the age of five, rapid response and evacuation of road crash victims and other medical emergencies, as well as up to 48 hours of emergency care at designated hospitals.

Dr. Bakare urged residents to save the dedicated emergency contact lines — 08112 00 00 33 and +234 802 385 7825 — to ensure prompt access to the services when needed.

Also speaking at the event, Health Educator Dr. Augustine Bankole PhD revealed that the state government has introduced a free Caesarean Section (CS) programme as part of broader efforts to tackle maternal mortality.
He stated that the pilot scheme is currently being implemented in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government and Ijebu Ode Local Government, areas identified as having relatively high maternal mortality rates.

Dr. Bankole clarified that the initiative is designed to ease the financial burden on expectant mothers requiring surgical delivery and to significantly reduce childbirth-related complications.

Residents were encouraged to take full advantage of the emergency services and maternal health interventions as the state intensifies efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and safeguard lives across communities.
