 OGUN LAUNCHES FIRST AI POWERED TEACHING PLATFORM

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has launched the first of its kind AI powered Teaching and Learning Platform (OgunLearn), that would position the State on the path of the 21st century education delivery.

Governor Dapo Abiodun during the launching of the  Ogun Learning Enhancement and Academic Resource Network (OgunLearn), at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, disclosed that the platform would provide lesson resources interactive learning support for students and would also enable  teachers to plan, teach, access and track performance more efficiently.

Abiodun added that the platform would encourage creativity, digital thinking and self-paced learning, saying OgunLearn was not only meant to deliver content but to nurture accountability, analytical thinking and lifelong learning skills.

 ‘’Today, OgunLearn reflects our firm belief that every child regardless of location or background deserve access to quality education enhanced by technology.

“The launching is about foresight, innovation and the deliberate preparation of the children and youths for the future and not the past. This platform is designed as a digital education tool to modernize teaching and learning in schools across the State," he said.

The State helmsman also opined that by exposing students across the State to AI concepts, is showcasing the State workforce could innovate locally, compete globally and attract high value investment.

He also added that OgunLearn serve as a key component of the broader Education Digital Transformation Agenda (OGSERA) which his administration had taken deliberate and bold steps to reposition by embracing technology, strengthening institutions, empowering teachers and improving learning outcomes.

"One of our flagship digital achievements is Digital platform for Education Revitalisation (Diper) which is a robust, integrated school management system that has now transform how our school plan, deliver, track and manage teaching and learning.

"Diper has brought transparency, efficiency and real time date into school administration, making evidence based decision the norm rather than the exception," he said.

Governor Abiodun also disclosed that the State had become the national reference point in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), pointing out that the State had transformed TVET into a credible, attractive and employment oriented pathway.

"Ogun State pioneered the Learner Identification System (LIN) which is a unique learner tracking system that ensures continuity, accountability and accurate learner data across the education life cycle.

"I am very proud that today, this innovation has now been adopted at the national level, it is now called The Examination Learner Identification Number(ELIN) by the federal government, this is a clear testament that Ogun State is leading education sector.

Earlier, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who recalled how the State government during COVID-19 combined the power of technology with Communication to ensure students in the State continued to learn, added that the launching of the Ogun Learning Enhancement and Academic Resource Network (OgunLearn) which was second to none in the country had further cemented the State as the first in the education sector.

On his part, Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Barr. Olalekan Ifede, described the AI powered teaching platform aimed at enhancing education as the way to go, charging teachers across the State to make good use of the teaching platform.
