Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Launches Health Insurance Scheme, 200 Residents to Benefit
The Executive Chairman, Ado- Odo/Ota local government, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu, announced that no fewer than 200 residents would benefit from the Ogun State Health Insurance program in the area.
The Chairman,Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu made this known during the official launching of Health Insurance scheme at the Local Government Hall in Ota.
The LG boss added that having access to medical facilities is not a privilege rather a fundamental right urging everyone to key into the program to achieve access to quality health care, serving as preventive care to promote early detention and prevention of diseases also to ensure financial relief saying while this program is his initiative, its success depends on all of us
The Head of Local Government Administration ( HOLGA), Mr Junaid Babatunde Wasiu said the launching of Health Program is very imperative at this period to improve on the health status of the vulnerable in the society.
The scheme, according to the Medical Officer of Health / Health Secretary, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Dr. Jelili Bakare, focuses on achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Ogun State and includes three key aspects: the Formal Sector Health Insurance Scheme, Informal Sector Health Insurance Scheme, and Vulnerable Group Health Insurance Scheme.
"The Formal Sector Scheme covers civil servants, organized private sector employees, and their biological dependents, while the Informal Sector Scheme is designed for market/trade unions, transport unions, farmers' associations, and other associations not captured under the formal sector,
The Vulnerable Group Scheme targets residents who cannot pay for themselves, including pregnant women, children under 5, the elderly, and physically or mentally challenged individuals," Lawal explained.
Bakare added that beneficiaries would choose from government health centers and that the benefits would last for a year adding that the launch of the health insurance scheme is expected to improve the health and well-being of residents in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.
The Executive Secretary, Ogun State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu said the program is taking place in Ota, Igbesa and Ado- Odo adding that the Chairman, Ado- Odo/Ota Loca Government has paid for 200 beneficiaries, a month ago.
According to him" the card that will be given cannot be transferred for usage by proxy, it's strictly with the user pictures that will be attended to, the numbers on it can be called at anytime."
Dosunmu added that health insurance is in total exclusion of Brain
Surgeries,Cancer Management, Infertility Treatment, Liver Pathologies and Renal Impairment adding that the beneficiaries can only assess government health facilities at their disposal.
The beneficiaries, Mr Lukman Odewole, Engr. Olugbenga Oronugbagbe, on separate responses appreciated both the State and the Local Government for the initiative to make health insurance scheme available for the less privilege in the society adding that they would go extra miles to create more awareness about the scheme in their various areas.
