*Ogun Governor Abiodun Commended for Pension Reforms*
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has received commendations for his efforts in paying gratuities up till date in state pensions and local government pensions.
The vice chairman, Ado Odo Ota Local Government Retired Primary School Teachers Association, a registered body with the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun State, Alhaji Bankole Musiliudeen, gave the commendations during a visit to the office of the Local Government Chairman at the Secretariat in Ota.
According to Musiliudeen, Governor Abiodun's exceptional role in increasing pension from N3,000 to N20,000 is highly commendable adding that the governor's efforts have been recognized by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun State Branch, which commended him for the wage increase extended to all categories of pensioners.
"The State Governor's efforts in increasing pension from the minimum of 3,000 to 5,000 and later to 10,000, presently to 20,000 is highly commendable", Bankole said.
In response, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu, described Governor Abiodun as a worker-friendly governor, citing his efforts in paying pension and gratuity.
Lawal said in the Joint Allocation Account Committee JAAC meeting held recently, there was an indicator that huge amount is on Teachers salary in Ogun State and Primary school teachers take the largest on salary.
He promised to maintain cordial relationships with the association in order to provide independent opinions on primary schools development in the local government.
The LG boss emphasized the need to educate the public on the importance of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), to supplement allocation and provide projects and services.
