GOV. ABIODUN'S INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION IS A SECURED FUTURE AGENDA- HoS
The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka, has described the legacy projects and other significant achievements of Prince Dapo Abiodun's led administration in the education sector, as a feat geared towards securing the lives of future generations, not only for the State, but the nation at large.
Mr. Saka, stated this while declaring open A One-Day Workshop for Education Officers organised by Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, with the theme: ‘Advancing Educational Transformation Through Innovation and Professionalism’ at June 12 Cultural centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, added that every rehabilitated classrooms, instructional materials, trained teachers, digital platforms and other interventions represented public resources committed to the future of the children.
He also appreciated the Governor for sustaining the historic feat the State was known for in the education sector, challenged education officers to keep the flag flying through competence, integrity, impartiality, accountability, confidentiality, respect for due process, commitment to continuous learning, credible assessments, dependable judgments and conduct beyond reproach.
"We must ensure that these investments are properly utilised, maintained and translated into measurable improvements in the learning environment and educational outcomes. Schools should see Education Officers as professional partners in achieving the objectives of the government on education," Saka noted.
Highlighting the revitalisation strides of Prince Abiodun in the education sector, the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, affirmed that through Ogun State Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (Ogun TEACh), over 6,000 teachers had been employed and that the Ogun Education Cash Award for Students Help (EduCASH), had provided succour for indigenous students at all levels.
He also highlighted Ogun Scholar, a scheme for providing Special Scholarship Programme for learning and research, Ogun State Learning Enhancement and Academic Resource Network (OgunLEARN), an AI digital platform to reduce the burden of lesson notes on teachers, Learners Identification Number (LIN), an initiative for adequate data gathering and efficient education delivery, as part of the initiatives that had earned the State pride of place as far as education was concerned.
In their separate remarks, the Chairmen of Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede and Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Idowu Onasanya, noted that Education Officers occupy a strategic position within the process and it had become their responsibilities to extend beyond routine administration.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, submitted that Officers must recognise professionalism as something that transcended beyond possessing qualifications, but an expertise that must reflect in their attitude to work, which included, integrity, punctuality, discipline, communication, responsiveness and willingness to take responsibility for outcomes.
In their separate presentations, a Consultant/Head of School Leadership Programme, Teach for Nigeria, Dr. Chinedu Oluwadamilola, enjoined Officers on advancing educational transformation through innovation and professionalism, while a retired Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ayodele Koleade, taught them on how to strengthen professional ethics, integrity and maintain accountability in their educational service delivery.
Appreciating the Commissioner on behalf of other Officers for putting the workshop together, Mr. Oluwole Oladehinbo and Mrs. Ajimot Hassan, described the workshop as an eye opener, noting that it would enhance their productivity and promote quality service delivery.

ENROLMENT DRIVE INITIATIVE, STRATEGY TO COMBAT OUT-OF-SCHOOL CHALLENGE - COMMISSIONER
Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, has revealed that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration has initiated a school enrolment drive programme as a strategy to tackle the challenge of out-of-school children in the State with the intention of reducing it to the barest minimum.
Prof. Arigbabu, made this known while leading an enrolment drive exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session to market places and motor parks across the four divisions of the State, enjoining parents and guardians with children of three to six years of age to take them to any nearby public primary school for free registration.
Arigbabu, recalled that the initiative which focused mainly on sensitisiting the public on the need to enrol every child at early stage had been in effect since the inception of the present administration, saying it was part of its commitment towards ensuring that every child in the State had access to qualitative free education.
"This is what we have been doing from the inception of the present administration and we have seen improvement in the enrolment, with the level of enthusiasm and feedback toward’s the drive, we envisioned that more children would be brought to school as this will drastically reduce out-of-school phenomenon in Ogun State," Arigbabu affirmed
Also speaking, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, urged market women to desist from making their wards hawk around, especially during the school hours, saying all parents should take advantage of the free education policy and enrol their wards.
On his part, Chairman, Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria AOPSHON, Ogun State Chapter, Alhaji Tajudeen Adeosun, assured that as the registration for 2026/2027 academic session is ongoing, all Headteacher and teachers would be on ground to register the children from 9am to 1pm everyday.
In their separate remarks, the Iyalojas of Oke Aje, Ilaro, Lanfewa, Elega and Kuto Markets, Chief Mrs. Risikatu Idowu, Alhaja Sidikat Owe, Alhaja Nuratu Okanlawon and Alhaja Iswat Adewuyi, respectively appreciated the government for its relentless efforts to ensure that every child becomes educated and have certainty of a brighter future.

OGUN HoS UNVEILS BLUEPRINT, HIGHLIGHTS EARLY REFORMS
The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka, has outlined his blueprint for strengthening the State public service, with emphasis on continuity, digitalisation, staff welfare, improved revenue generation, security and a conducive working environment.
He made this known at the 2026 half-year budget performance appraisal of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government at the State House of Assembly, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Saka, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve and appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun, for his appointment. He also extended his appreciation to the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly for their support, assuring that his tenure would build on the achievements of his predecessors in sustaining the tradition of excellence in the State public service.
The Head of Service, highlighted the establishment of a dedicated cadre for personnel involved in emergency and ambulance-related health services, noting that the initiative had been carried out between Lagos and Ogun State before the National Council on Establishment secured the necessary approval.
He also disclosed the introduction of bi-monthly environmental sanitation within the State Secretariat to promote a cleaner and more conducive working environment.
According to him, four Environmental Ambassadors had been appointed to encourage compliance, with commendation letters to form part of their assessment during promotion exercises.
Saka, also said, he had charged accounting officers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies to improve revenue generation in line with the Governor’s directive, while efforts towards digitalising personnel records were being intensified.
He explained that a committee comprising relevant stakeholders, including the Office of Service Matters, Bureau of Establishments and Training and the Civil Service Commission, had been inaugurated to drive the digitalisation of personnel records in the State public service.
On security, the Head of Service said measures had been introduced to ensure proper identification of civil servants, while vehicle tallies had been introduced to regulate access to the State Secretariat, while urging civil servants and members of the public to comply with the measures to avoid unnecessary embarrassment.
He further highlighted government’s palliative support for civil servants in response to rising costs, as well as the recent Civil Service Week, which featured lectures and symposium involving notable personalities. A health walk was also introduced during the week to promote workers’ physical well-being, alongside other initiatives aimed at improving productivity and staff welfare.
He acknowledged the Civil Service Commission, under the leadership of its Permanent Secretary, Mr. Jola Oyeneye, for taking the lead in implementing key aspects of his blueprint, particularly in the areas of digitalisation of records and the promotion of staff wellness through the health walk initiative.
Responding, House Committee Chairman on Establishment and Public Service Matters, Hon. Tella commended Saka for the achievements recorded within his short period in office and urged him to sustain the momentum, particularly in addressing pending issues affecting the Public Service.
The engagement was attended by representatives of key services, including the Civil Service Commission, Office of Service Matters, Bureau of Establishments and Training, and State Pension Bureau.

SEMA, NEMA HOLD FLOOD DISASTER SIMULATION EXERCISE TO STRENGTHEN EMERGENCY RESPONSE
The Ogun State Government, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (OGSEMA), has conducted the third and closing day flood disaster simulation exercise aimed at strengthening the preparedness and response capacity of stakeholders to flooding and other related emergencies in the State.
The exercise brought together emergency responders, security agencies, health personnel, community representatives and other relevant stakeholders to test their readiness and improve coordination before, during and after a disaster.
Addressing participants at Odo Apo, Owu area Abeokuta, Governor Dapo Abiodun, stressed the importance of continuous preparedness, noting that effective disaster management required deliberate planning, early warning, rapid response and strong collaboration among relevant agencies.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, explained that the State Government remained committed to protecting lives and property, particularly in communities vulnerable to flooding, while urging residents to take early warnings seriously and relocate from identified danger zones whenever necessary.
"The flood disaster simulation exercise therefore serves as an important platform for strengthening the State's emergency preparedness and response architecture. It provides stakeholders with the opportunity to assess their capabilities, improve communication and identify areas requiring further attention," Gov. Abiodun submitted.
Representative of the President, Mrs. K. Audu, commended the organisers and participating agencies for demonstrating commitment to disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness. She noted that the Federal Government attached great importance to strengthening the capacity of States to respond effectively to natural disasters, particularly flooding, which had continue to threaten communities, livelihoods and critical infrastructure across the country.
She urged all stakeholders to translate the lessons from the simulation into practical measures that would enhance safety and resilience at the grassroots.
Representing the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Director Search and Rescue, NEMA, Air Commodore Bashir Usman, said the simulation was designed to test existing emergency response plans, identify operational gaps and strengthen inter-agency coordination. He explained that simulation exercises had provided an opportunity for responders to practise their roles under realistic conditions, thereby reducing confusion and response time when actual emergency occurred.
The exercise featured practical demonstrations of emergency response procedures, including search and rescue, evacuation of simulated flood victims, medical assistance, communication and coordination among participating agencies.
Responders were given scenarios requiring them to work together and make timely decisions, thereby testing their operational readiness. Also, people living in flood prone areas in the community were given relief packages including rice, gari, vegetable oil, mattress and others.

TESCOM TO INDUCT ZONAL COORDINATING PRINCIPALS, PRINCIPALS, VICE PRINCIPALS
The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), has scheduled a two-day induction ceremony for successful candidates appointed to the positions of Zonal Coordinating Principals, Principals and Vice Principals.
This was contained in a statement released by the Commission Chairman, Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu.
The statement indicated that induction for Zonal Coordinating Principals and Principals will take place on Monday, September 7, 2026, while that of Vice Principals will hold on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
It further stated that both ceremonies would be held at Baptist Boys' High School, Saje, Abeokuta, at 10:00 a.m. each day.
The statement enjoined all prospective inductees and well-wishers to be seated by 9:00 a.m, as the Commission congratulates all the successful candidates on their new appointments and wished them excellence and success as they assume their new responsibilities.
