WE'LL SUSTAIN TEACHERS' WELFARE, IMPROVES INCENTIVES FOR THOSE IN RURAL AREAS-TESCOM BOSS
The Chairman of Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu has assured the teaching and non-teaching staff in Secondary schools across the State of government continued provision of welfare packages and other incentives, particularly for those in rural areas.
In an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta, Sanyaolu explained that the present administration recognises the significant contributions of teachers to the advancement of the education sector, noting that students' performance largely depends on the efficient service delivery of teachers.
He said the Commission had taken concrete steps to enhance secondary school teachers' welfare, including capacity building, awards, cash gifts and improved rural allowances for those working in the rural areas.
"Ogun State Government is proud of its teachers, particularly those in secondary schools, for discharging their duties diligently. They have made the State proud in all ramifications. TESCOM duly recognises these efforts and continues to encourage and motivate them to boost their morale," Sanyaolu stated.
On the recent redistribution exercise of teachers in secondary schools, Sanyaolu said that the move was targetted to ensure equity, balance and fairness, as well as preventing work overload among some teachers.
"The authority of TESCOM is appealing to you to be calm about this exercise. I want to let you know that a Redistribution and Review Panel has been set up to look into some of the teachers' concerns, while those with critical health conditions and genuine issues will be attended to, " he assured.
