OLOTA ANNOUNCES CULTURAL RENAISSANCE AHEAD OF 2025 OMO IGANMODE FESTIVAL

The Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Awori Kingdom to preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage, as preparations intensify for the 2025 Odun Omo Iganmode celebrations.

Obalanlege made this known during an exclusive interview with journalists at his palace in Ota, Ogun State, where he revealed that this year’s edition would showcase the Awori culture, just as the theme reflected the kingdom’s desire to reconnect with its historical identity as a guide for growth and direction.

According to the monarch, cultural identity remained the strongest pillar of unity, noting that Odun Omo Iganmode was not just a festival, but an annual reminder of the Awori people’s ancestral strength, shared values and collective aspirations.

“The 2025 Iganmode Cultural Festival will showcase the Awori cultural attire that signifies where we are coming from so that we can better understand where we are going. Our culture is our identity and it must be celebrated proudly", he said.

The Olota further stated that the festival would also highlight Ota’s important role as the industrial powerhouse of Ogun State and one of the fastest-growing urban centres in Nigeria, emphasising that the event would offer an opportunity to display not only culture, but also the socio-economic potentials of the town.

“This is the time to prove to the world that Ota is the industrious hub of Ogun State. Our people are hardworking, creative and enterprising. Iganmode Cultural Festival provides a platform to showcase this to Nigeria and beyond", he declared.

Oba Obalanlege enjoined Awori sons and daughters, as well as residents of Ota, to participate actively in the celebration and uphold the cherished values of unity, hospitality, as well as communal progress which the kingdom is known for.

As preparations continue, the 2025 Iganmode Day is expected to attract dignitaries, cultural troupes, traditional institutions and visitors from across the country and the diaspora, further reaffirming its status as one of the biggest cultural festivals in South-West Nigeria.
