The much-anticipated 2024/2025 edition of the Olota Cup commenced on Monday, November 24, 2025, with a colourful and energetic opening ceremony that reinforced the Awori Kingdom’s dedication to youth development and grassroots sports promotion. The Bells University Stadium, Ota, Ogun State, came alive as football lovers, traditional leaders, scholars and dignitaries gathered to witness the official kick-off of one of Aworiland’s most celebrated sporting events.

His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D., Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Otta, declared the tournament open, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season of talent, competition and community bonding.

In his opening address, the monarch commended the organising committee led by Mr. Olaniyi Akinbode, CEO and Publisher of Travellers Network Magazine, for sustaining the legacy of the Olota Cup and the Olota Marathon. Kabiyesi encouraged participating schools to view the competition as an avenue for growth and self-discovery, stressing the values of discipline, professionalism and excellence in shaping the next generation of football stars.
