OGSG OPENS APPLICATION FOR SHORT TERM SKILLS COURSES IN TECHNICAL COLLEGES
The Ogun State Government, through the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB), has announced the commencement of applications for admission into various short-term skill development programmes across all Government Technical Colleges and Skills Acquisition Centres in the State.
The Acting Executive Secretary of the Board, Mrs. Mojisola Adenowo, said the initiative was part of government’s renewed commitment to promoting technical and vocational education as a tool for youth empowerment, employability and entrepreneurship.
According to her, the short-term courses have been specially designed to equip youths, women, artisans and job seekers with practical, hands-on skills for self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
She explained that the programme covered a wide range of trades and technical disciplines, including Computer Craft/ICT, Catering and Hospitality, Printing and Graphics, Carpentry and Joinery, Electrical/ Electronics Craft, Masonry, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Metal Works, Leather Works, Mechanical Engineering Craft, Cosmetology, Garment Making, Agricultural Mechanics, Adire Making, Aluminum Fabrication, Auto Mechanics, RAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning), and many more.
Mrs. Adenowo added that the initiative also had in its kitty, after school hands-on training sessions, thereby providing trainees extended opportunities to practise and refine their skills in real work settings under expert supervision.
She further noted that successful participants would receive Competency Based Certification, which aligned with national and international standards for technical training and skill acquisition.
Interested applicants are advised to visit any of the designated Government Technical Colleges and Skills Acquisition Centres across the State to obtain and complete their application forms. These include GTC Ijebu-Ode, GTC Aiyetoro, GTC Ilaro, GTC Ijebu-Igbo, GTC Abeokuta, GTC Isabo, GTC Igbesa, as well as the OGSTVEB Skills Acquisition Centres in Iperu and Ilisan.
She therefore urged prospective trainees to apply early as limited slots were made available, emphasising that the courses offer an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth in today’s competitive job market.
