Ado-Odo/Ota Residents Petition Federal Government Over Crippling Traffic Crisis

Residents of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area in Ogun State have petitioned the Federal Government over the worsening traffic situation at Oju-Ore, which they blame on poor project management of the ongoing flyover construction.

The petition, signed by 1,127 citizens, described the situation as "unbearable" due to endless traffic jams, frequent accidents, and restricted movement of goods and services.

At a press conference held at the African Foundation for Environment and Development (AFED) office in Ota, the Ado-Odo/Ota Citizens Engagement Platform called for urgent intervention to ease the hardship faced by commuters, traders, and residents acknowledging the flyover's potential long-term benefits, the group emphasized the need for immediate measures to prevent further suffering.

The platform demanded the rehabilitation of seven alternative routes to serve as bypasses and reduce pressure on the Oju-Ore routes, including
- *Iya-Ijebu Junction to Obasanjo Road*: via Afobaje to improve connectivity and reduce congestion
- *Papa-Aro to Itele Road Corridor*: enhancing access to industrial areas and promoting economic activity
- *All-for-God Road*: linking Ahmadiyya Road via Papa-Aro to Babyo Bus Stop, facilitating smoother travel
- *Link Road to Jendol*: through Ilogbo Road, easing access to key commercial areas
- *Access Road beside Grocery Bazaar (GB)*: connecting Papa-Aro Road to alleviate traffic strain
- *Oloko-Onimalu Road*: linking Ilogbo Road to provide an alternative route for commuters
- *Borehole Ilogbo Road*: through Martins/Salvation Estate to Idiroko Road via Mobil/Ambassadors School, reducing travel times.

The petition has also been sent to relevant stakeholders, including the Ogun State Ministry of Works, the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), and lawmakers representing Ado-Odo/Ota at both state and federal levels.
