Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman Urges Youths to Reject Drug Abuse
In a passionate call to action, the Executive Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, has urged Nigerian youths to adopt purposeful living and reject the scourge of drug abuse, stressing that the nation's future depends on the resilience and ambition of its young people.
The LG boss, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu represented by the Supervisor for Information, Education, Youth and Sports, Mr. Bojinu Sewedo Shedrack, made this statement during a seminar organized to celebrate 2025, Ota Youth Week celebrations, with the theme "High in Life, Not on Drugs," at the recreation center, Ota.
Hon. Lawal urged youths to channel their energy into positive pursuits, encouraging them to dream big, strive for excellence, and contribute meaningfully to the society.
He stressed that the nation's future depends on the resilience and ambition of its young people calling on parents, guardians, and mentors to provide collective vigilance and support in nurturing the youth.
The Local Government Boss, emphasized the importance of guiding and inspiring the next generation to make informed choices encouraging collaborative efforts to build a thriving and drug-free Ado-Odo/Ota community
On separate contributions the speakers, Assistant Commander General Narcotics; SP L. O. Chukwusa, Sango Police Division; and MD of CKC Hospital Ota, Dr. Biola Bankole, highlighted the destructive impact of substance abuse on individuals and communities, emphasizing its link to crime, public safety, and long-term health risks.
