1000 Residents To Benefit from Free Eye Treatment, Glasses in Ogun West

The Ogun West senatorial district has commenced the Federal Government's initiative to provide free eye treatment and glasses to no fewer than 1000 residents.

The Clinical Coordinator, Primary Eye Care. (OGPHCB), Mrs. Olushola Enilolobo, made this declaration during a three-day training and practical exercise at the Ado-Odo/Ota Hall.

The initiative aims to provide free eye tests, eye drops, and glasses to residents in the senatorial district, which comprises Ado-Odo/Ota, Imeko Afon, Egbado North, Egbado South, and Ipokia local government areas.

According to Mrs. Enilolobo, many people in the society have minor eye issues that can be corrected with eye drops and glasses, but lack of access to these resources has exacerbated the problems.

The community mobilizer, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Chief Adeyinka Aremu, stated that the exercise is ongoing, with three accredited primary health centers in Ota, Sango, and Ijoko. He added that 100 residents will be attended to daily, with a total of 1000 residents expected to benefit from the initiative.

Chief Adeyinka urged the tripartite governments to look into developing agriculture to reduce hunger in the society adding that the  well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture and give back to their communities,

He stressed that government cannot do it alone  enjoining the Federal Government to improve the health sector by equipping all primary health centers.

Beneficiaries, including Evangelist David Omolola and Mr. Olatunbosun Ariyo, commended the Federal Government's efforts in collaboration with the State and Local Governments noting  that the glasses, which would normally cost N35,000 individually, would be a huge relief to them.
