OGSG DEBUNKS UNAUTHORISED SOCIAL MEDIA NOTICE ON SCREENING OF NEXT-OF-KIN OF DECEASED PENSIONERS
Ogun State government has debunked a notice attributed to the Bureau of State Pension on social media platforms, regarding screening of next-of-kin of deceased pensioners, describing it as a misleading and unauthorised information.
A statement by the Permanent Secretary in the Bureau, Mrs. Arinola Adetayo stated that the notice, purportedly issued by an unnamed individual, invite the next-of-kin of deceased pensioners to undergo a screening process was false and misleading.
Mrs. Adetayo said the Bureau wishes to clarify the situation to prevent any confusion or distress among the public, pointing out that the State government had established clear, official procedure for processing pension claims and disbursing benefits to the next-of-kin of deceased pensioners, as the process did not require any form of screening by unknown individuals or third party.
“The notice circulating on social media does not originate from any government office, department or Bureau of State Pensions personnel. The Bureau is not in any way associated with, nor endorses the request made in the notices”, the Permanent Secretary said.
She advised members of the public to disregard the notice and desist from sharing personal information or documents in response to any unauthorised invitation or request, adding that anyone who had received the notice should contact the Bureau office, at Block A, Ogun State Government Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

PRINCE DAPO ABIODUN'S POLICY ON EDUCATION YIELDING RESULTS-COMMISSIONER
The outstanding performances of learners, teachers and schools in Ogun State at Local, National and International competitions have been ascribed to a resourceful the policy of Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration on education.
State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, made this affirmation in Abeokuta, during the presentation of another set of learners, who made the state proud at the 64th National Conference of Science Teachers Association of Nigeria in Abuja.
Prof. Arigbabu expressed joy over the students’ performances for emerging first in Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Computer Science, and many more at the competition, noting that remarkable achievements recorded in public and private schools were as a result of the revitalisation agenda of the present administration in the education sector.
He assured that the state government would continue to celebrate excellence, as demonstrated by Governor Dapo Abiodun during the annual laureate event, where teachers, learners and schools were honoured with houses and cash awards to motivate them.
The Commissioner, who applauded the doggedness of students in the state, urged them to continue to partake in competitions, and develop spirit of sportsmanship in schools, appreciating the Local Organising Committee of the competition for their unrelenting efforts in preparing the learners towards achieving the best for their locality.
Earlier, Director of Education, Department of Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Edun, while presenting the awards to the Commissioner, said the competition was in primary, junior and senior secondary schools’ categories, disclosing that Ogun State won seven golds, two silvers and one bronze, to become Second Overall Best, after Lagos in the 36 states of the Federation.
Earlier, Chairman, STAN, Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Yomi Onanuga, stated that provision of necessary resources and logistics by the Ministry led to the remarkable performance of the students during the competition.

OGSG ROLLS OUT CNG CONVERSION PROCEDURES
In a bid to make transportation more affordable and accessible to the citizenry, Ogun State government has rolled out procedures for conversion of vehicles using Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered enabled engine.
Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, revealed this, while fielding questions from newsmen in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying the conversion process would be in three stages; Pre-Inspection of Vehicles by Vehicle Inspection Services (VIS) in conjunction with the conversion center technicians, Approval for Computerised Vehicle Inspection, as well as Conversion and Certification by the Conversion Manager and on-site.
The Commissioner added that there were two conversion centres and three gas refilling stations available in the state, which members of the public could visit for successful conversion of their vehicles.
"As we speak, we have two conversion centres, which are; Nigeria Gas Transport Solution Ltd (NGTSL), located at Ogun State Public Works Agency, Agbeloba, Abeokuta, and NEXT GEN LTD, at 37, Olorunsogo, Abiola Way, Abeokuta, while the three refilling stations are; Green Fuel at Lagos-Abeokuta Express road, Obada, Abeokuta, Gasco Marine, Abeokuta, Lagos-Abeokuta Express road, Obada and Nioco Gas, Mowe/Ibafo, Sagamu-Lagos Express Way”, he stressed.

They are; MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto; Skating Ground, Panseke; Opposite Fatgbems Filling Station, Oke-Sokori; Enu-Gada; Ramada Filling Station, Asero; Carry Go at Rounder and Ogun State Public Works Agency premises, Agbeloba, all in Abeokuta.

ODEDA LG CHAIRMAN PLEDGES COLLABORATION, ACCOUNTABILITY
The newly appointed Chairman of Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun state, Hon. Folasade Adeyemo, has pledged to sustain an open-door policy, to further bring transformation and development to communities in the council area.
Hon. Adeyemo, made this known during an interview with newsmen in Odeda, saying policies of the council’s new administration would foster collaboration, transparency and accountability.
She added that her tenure would implement programmes that would promote local business for enhanced economic growth and job creation, promising that people of the area would be involved in the decision-making process, to bring about cordial relationships between authority of the local government and residents.
The Chairman assured of renovation and provision of critical infrastructure, such as schools, roads, healthcare facilities, boreholes, solar lights, among others, to improve the living conditions of people in the area.
She sought the cooperation of citizens both home and abroad for continued developmental strides in the local government, towards achieving positive change and accelerated achievement.
Contributing, Vice Chairman of the council area, Mr. Yaya Nasiru, who appreciated the state government and residents of the local government for the opportunity to serve, expressed optimism that the council area would witness remarkable growth under the new administration, pledging the council executive members’ loyalty to the Chairman.

YEWA NORTH LG INTENSIFIES EFFORT ON ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANLINESS
In a bid to ensure a clean environment for the well-being of its citizenry, Yewa North Local Government has begun desilting of drainage and clearing of bushy areas, to repel hoodlums and criminals, seeking hidden places to perpetrate devilish acts in the area.
Speaking on the development during the weekly environmental exercise in Ayetoro, Chairman of the council area, Hon. (Dr.) Olusola Akinbode, said the initiative was borne out of desire to ensure hygienic and conducive environment for the residents, particularly at the commencement of his administration, to prevent loss of lives, assets and valuables that might be caused by indiscriminate bush burnings.
Akinbode, who stated that the effort was also aimed at maintaining infrastructure provided by government, noted that the move would minimise effect of bush burning and other hazards, admonishing homeowners in the area to construct well-aligned drainages in front of their houses, while warning residents to desist from dumping refuse in unauthorised places and runoff routes.
Also speaking, Director, Water Resources and Environmental Services (WES) in the council, Mr. Solomon Adeyemi, said clearing of drainages and bushy areas would not only beautify the environment but also guarantee healthiness among the people.
