 CHOLERA OUTBREAK: ADO-ODO/OTA LG ROLLS OUT HYGIENE CAMPAIGN

The Executive Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Engr. Sheriff Musa has rolled out hygiene campaign to prevent the spread of cholera outbreak among residents of the area.


Engr. Musa, while speaking during sensitisation and training on the prevention and control of cholera outbreak at the council secretariat in Ota, said the disease was characterised by acute diarrhoeal through contaminated water and food, which could kill within hours if left untreated.

The council boss noted that it was expedient for residents of the area to be acquainted with early detection and prevention in managing the cholera outbreak, charging them to imbibe good sanitary measures to reduce the pandemic to the barest minimum.

          In the same vein, a Health Educator in the local government, Mr. Bankole Augustine said the state government had commenced a community awareness campaign for the prevention of the disease, while surveillance and necessary resources were provided for health facilities in the council to handle any case.

He called on residents to be more vigilant, imbibe good sanitation and take preventive measures to combat the spread of cholera, enjoining them to report any case of the disease to the state hospital or other health facilities in Ota.
