CIPM HONOURS GOV. ABIODUN, HoS
Governor Dapo Abiodun has been honoured by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), with an award of excellence, for his unflinching support and sterling performance by investing in the state workforce through training, workshops, seminars and other skill acquisition programmes.
While receiving the prestigious award on behalf of the governor and himself in his Oke-Mosan office, the Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, said the state invested more in people and placed high premium on its workers, as regular training of officers would bring the best out them.
Mr. Fagbohun noted that Governor Abiodun was compassionate and committed to the workers’ welfare by providing conducive environment for them to perform optimally.
"Ogun State is an investor in people and our workers are priced high because no matter what you want to do, you get it done through people. Therefore, government has taken it upon itself to ensure that the workers are regularly trained. Since I came on board, we have trained over 400 workers and we have secured an approval to train another 100 from Grade Levels 14-16 in the Civil Service and that shows the commitment of the government towards capacity building of its workers", he said.
The HoS, who was also honoured along with the governor, appreciated the national and state branch of the Institute for the honour, promising continued support and collaboration, to further increase the skills of the workers.
Earlier in his awards presentation, the State Chairman of CIPM, Engr. Sean Badaru, pointed out that the two recipients were exemplary leaders, who cherished the training and retraining of the workforce.
He said the awards were to demonstrate unflinching support of the Institute, disclosing that they were found worthy by the national body during 55th International Conference and Exhibition held recently in Abuja.

OGUN LAWMAKERS INTERFACE WITH ECONOMIC TEAM, OTHERS
Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly has commenced a three-day budget retreat to interface with members of the state economic team and other financial experts towards dissecting key elements and components of the State 2024 budget, preparatory to its passage by the Assembly.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, declaring the retreat open at Ago-Iwoye, enjoined his colleague-lawmakers to take advantage of the exercise to analyse the key components of the fiscal proposal, especially its socio-economic impacts on the people.
According to him, the annual budget retreat had continued to offer platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge on budgeting and budgetary process for the lawmakers to be well equipped on how to scrutinise the financial proposal, in line with their legislative assignments.
He equally warned that whosoever gets convicted in contravening the Code of Conduct law, and same reaffirmed up to the Supreme Court, would not be granted a state pardon.
Delivering his paper titled, "How an Achievable State Budget Could Be Realised by Honourable Members Through Effective Budget Oversight", the Executive Director, Community Development Initiatives, Budget Transparency Researcher for FCDO, UK Aid and CIRDDDVE, Mr. Igbodipe Olumide, stated that the bottom-up approach being adopted by the state government in the budgetary process, remained the most appropriate for the overall socio-economic development of the Gateway State.
He called for more initiatives towards strengthening the capacity and enhancement of institutional processes, towards setting a common framework for budget process.
Mr. Igbodipe equally sought for the need of the Executive and Legislative officials to explore joint initiatives, to improve the information analytic foundation for budgeting, which he said, included greater public disclosure of budget information to enable more informed and broader public participation in budget debates.

HoS URGES WIVES OF PERM. SECS TO BE SUPPORTIVE
Wives of Permanent Secretaries in the Ogun State Civil Service have been called upon to continually support their husbands by making the home conducive, to enable them discharge their statutory duties with utmost professionalism.
The Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, made the call, while receiving wives of top echelons in the Civil Service, led by his wife, Mrs. Florence Fagbohun, on a courtesy visit to his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Mr. Fagbohun said the onus rests on them to give solidarity to their spouses in all areas, to make them succeed in their chosen career, especially as Permanent Secretaries.
He also urged them to continue to give total support to the Wife of the Governor, as their comportment and relational values would rub-off, either positively or negatively on their husbands.
"You are here because your husbands were appointed Permanent Secretaries; thus, you must make the homes conducive. If the home is not settled, their minds too will be unsettled and the best cannot be gotten from them. Continue to encourage them to be the best and respect the oath of secrecy they have sworn to, while discharging their duties", he said.
The HoS urged them not to hesitate to visit him as his door is always open and emphasised that the Permanent Secretaries and his office are working as a team for the efficiency and glory of the Civil Service.
Earlier, Mrs. Fagbohun, said the visit was to appreciate their husbands, pledging unflinching support and love to them, with a promise to continue to give their best to make them succeed.
Similarly, executive members of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Ogun State Branch, have been called upon to use their new offices to promote industrial peace and harmony, as well as uphold professionalism in law practice in the state Civil Service.
Mr. Fagbohun made the call when the newly sworn-in executive members of the association, led by its Chairman, Mr. Kunle Ogunfowodu, paid him a visit in his office, urging them to be a rallying point through which challenges were addressed and resolved, especially by providing robust mentorship to new entrants.

OFFICE OF THE SSA ON SPECIAL DUTIES & SDGs TAKES PROACTIVE STEPS TOWARDS 2024
The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties & SDGs, under the Ministry of Budget and Planning organized an SDGs Youth Development Forum. A consultation engagement designed to provide quality dialogue by engaging notable and high level key decision making leaders who are actively pursuing the SDGs at the State and National Level. The aim is to bring together a focused, dynamic, action oriented agenda, by engaging key leaders in developing a practical roadmap for the actualization of the Sustainable Development Goals and Target for the year 2024.
The programme held at the Conference room of the Ministry of Budget and Planning and during the programme, the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Laolu Olabimtan charged the team to ensure all suggestive programme and projects were costed in other to make adequate budgetary provisions for them to be mainstreamed into the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for the proceeding years.
In his words "If you understand SDGs, there is no way government alone can achieve a goal without the support of the people. As a government, we believe in collaboration and the need for key stakeholders and active players of the programme to come together and brainstorm on how we can collectively combat challenges and contribute towards the attainment of the programme in the state governance as a whole ".
The facilitator of the programme, the SSA on Special Duties & SDGs Damilola Otubanjo, charged the ambassadors that the attainment of programme across the state was not business as usual, emphasising the need for qualitative contents towards the collective development of a practical roadmap for the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals and Targets in 2024, the roadmap would then be used to develop the calendar for engagement of programmes and projects.
Otubanjo during her opening remark explained the efforts taken by her office since assumptions of duty during the first term of the Governor Dapo Abiodun's Administration, part of which was to carry out a visitation to over 884 Special Intervention projects through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs (OSSAP SDGs) the projects covered schools, hospitals, solar street lights, road constructions, primary Healthcare centres, Vocational centres for trainings, market, community centres amongst others. The project track covered the year 2019 through 2022. She also explained that her office had during the first term established a youth community online with over 1,000 members were trained on SDGs to increase awareness and drive more advocacies and youth engagements.
Responding, the Senior Programme Manager, Terra Culture Academy for the Arts(TAFTA), Olukayode Olasope applauded the collaborative effort of government, which had culminated in training of over 4,000 young Ogun indigenes on Stage Lighting, Script Writing, Animation, Business enterprise and other ventures, saying that TAFTA had also set up a Learning Center in Abeokuta and Mowe for more training purposes.

OGSG LAUDS ACCESS BANK ON N30MILLION WORTH SCHOOL INTERVENTION
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, has lauded the Conduct and Compliance Group of Access Bank on its 30 Million naira worth school intervention project, to complement government effort on provision of conducive and attractive teaching and learning environment.
Mrs. Soyombo said this during the commissioning of the newly constructed four classrooms block, at Zion African Church Secondary School Ã’tun in Akute, saying the project would enable the students have access to a safe and conducive learning environment.
The Governor's aide affirmed that government was committed to providing quality education, design engaging curriculums and nurture the talents and potential of every child, saying education is not only about imparting knowledge, but also to shape compassionate individuals, who would contribute meaningfully to the society and impact the world positively.
"Your selflessness has demonstrated the immense power that lies within the hands of humanity to uplift and transform lives. Your contribution has not only laid a solid foundation but also ignited a spark of inspiration that will continue to kindle the flame of progress for generations to come", she said.
Speaking, the Chairman, Conduct and Compliance Committee of Access Bank, Mr. Babatunde Aro, appreciated Prince Dapo Abiodun’s government on its cooperation in ensuring the completion of the project, promising continued contribution to ensure further advance the education sector.
Earlier, the school Principal, Mrs. Caroline Dada, described the development as historical in the community, noting that it was a gesture, worthy of emulation.
Responding on behalf of other students, Miss Rita Okeke, appreciated government and Access Bank group for constructing the new classroom to ease over-crowding and ensure effective teaching and learning.

WE’LL CONTINUE TO PROMOTE TOURISM, CULTURAL DIVERSITY - CANADIAN COMMISSION
Promotion and celebration of rich and diverse tourism, and cultural traditions in Nigeria have been described as key factors in promoting networking among southern regions of the world.
This assertion was made by Canada Deputy High Commissioner, Aly Shaffy, during a one-day Cultural Bazaar, at the Canada High Embassy Commission in Lagos, saying Nigeria and Canada share strong bilateral ties.
She noted that one of the key objectives of the Consular was to promote networking through cultural diversity and increased outreach by bringing different states in the country and stakeholders in the sector together at the event which aimed to promote tourism, culture and rich traditions of Nigeria, while fostering co-operation between Canada and Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism at the event, Director, Visual Arts Department, Mr. Emmanuelle Ikuwe, said the state was ready to key into any event that would explore and showcase the exceptionally rich cultural heritages inherent in the state, adding that the programme was a formidable platform with the potential for fusion, interaction and cultural exchange, among others.
" This Bazaar, organised by the Canada High Embassy Commission is very commendable. It is a formidable platform form of expression of rich cultural heritage among Nigerian states and international communities; it is more exposing, as well as enlightening. For instance, in visit to other stands, we have seen and learnt other packaging ways we will adopt, replicate even better for our subsequent exhibitions and outings, to bring glory to the state at large and not just the Ministry", he said.
On his part, the Olu of Orile-Ilawo, Oba Prof. Olusegun Macgregor, stated that Canada was the most multicultural society in the world, as the country placed much emphasis on cultural exchange which was evident through the cultural Bazaar organised by the Commission.
Macgregor, who commended the organisers for the laudable event, charged the Canadian Embassy to fraternise more with Nigerians, to effectively project and exchange cultures with Canadians abroad.
Popular Musician, King Ayinde Wasiu, charged the royal fathers present and Nigerians to join hands in promoting and networking culture to the global world, as there were more areas to explore and improve Nigeria and African traditions and relationships with Canada, urging Nigerians to proudly identify with the country at the international level.
The Bazaar featured an array of cultural activities such as traditional dance performances, traditional crafts exhibitions, music performances, as well as traditional cuisines from participating states of Ogun, Delta, Rivers and Ekiti.

AKARIGBO URGES CHILDREN TO SHUN CULTISM
The Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, HRH, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, has urged children to shun acts of criminality and imbibe quality character that would reposition them as ambassadors of the state and nation in general.
Oba Ajayi gave the charge at the end of the year children‘s party, organised by the Radanuwa of Idado, HRH, Oba Musiliu Soile, in collaboration with Friends of Ronzls Foundation, at the Foundation’s House, St Paul Primary School, Sagamu.
He enjoined them to eschew bad behaviour and shun all forms of social vices that could jeopardise their future or destiny, pledging to support the Remo Growth and Development Foundation (RGDF), to protect the interest of the children in the society.
The royal father lauded the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration for its giant strides in the education sector, appreciating the organisers for supporting the mantra of Building Our Future Together.
In his remarks, Oba Soile appreciated the government’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, saying it had given private individuals and traditional rulers, among others, opportunities to contribute their quota to the development of education in the state.
He enjoined children to remain focused and avoid distractions in their academic pursuits, urging parents to be friendly in the course of interacting with their children, so as to ensure beneficial feedback.
Earlier, the Founder, Friends of Ronzls Foundation, Mrs. Ola Sulaimon, ccommended the PPP policy, disclosing that the obje time of the foundation was to educate and nurture learners for greater heights.
Speaking, the Education Secretary, Sagamu Local Government Education Authority, Apostle Amos Okubote, said the ICT Centre at the foundation had given the children the opportunity to have practical computer experience which made teaching and learning easy and built their confidence to perform excellently in various competitions.
He explained that the foundation had been supportive of the children with textbooks, school bags and sandals, urging other well-meaning personalities to emulate the gesture to further develop the education sector.
In her goodwill message, the Director, Academic School Services, Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Mrs. Kehinde Anifowose, appreciated the founder for the gesture, imploring parents to ensure children cultivate maintenance culture and make good use of the facilities.
