SENATE PRESIDENT PROMISES SPEEDY ACTION ON DILAPIDATED ABEOKUTA-LAGOS EXPRESSWAY The President of the Nigeria Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has assured the citizens of Ogun State that the Senate would give the Ogun State government the needed support and speedy action on the reconstruction of the Abeokuta-Lagos express road. Sen. Akpabio gave the assurance during the grand finale of the year 2023 Yewa Cultural Festival, organised by the Yewa People Development Council (YPDC) with the theme: “Celebration of Culture, Tradition, Music, Cuisine, and Dance”, held at the ultra-modern pavilion, Empire Field, Ilaro. He said that aside from the Abeokuta-Lagos express road, all other deplorable federal roads in the state would also be looked into. The Senate President, while assuring that all hands would be on deck to ensure the completion of the road, promised that the Senate would ensure that the work (construction) is handed over to a competent contractor, adding that the Senate would work with the present administration to ensure its completion. Speaking at the event, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, congratulated the monarch and people of Yewaland on the cultural event and described the festival as a significant commercial activity that would foster economic integration, development, and unity among the Yewa people. He assured the people of the region that his government would always consider the area in his developmental programmes. In his remark, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Olugbenle, called for the existence of brotherly cooperation and unity among the Yewa People. In a related development, the Aboro of Iboro-Yewa, Oba (Dr.) Daniel Salako, has called on well-meaning citizens of the town not to relent in contributing to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the town. The call was made during the annual Eyinni Cultural Festival of the town in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State. He implored the people of the town to continue to live in harmony with one another and give adequate cooperation and support to Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government in the State.
