 OGSG TO REHABILITATE 72.43KM RURAL ROADS

More succour is on the way for rural dwellers, as the Ogun State Government through its Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) has taken steps to rehabilitate no fewer than 72.43-kilometer rural roads across the state.


Commissioner for Rural Development, Mrs. Olufemi Ilori Oduntan, hinted during a bidding exercise for contractors on the project at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, imploring all the contractors to take the outcome in good faith.

Mrs. Ilori-Oduntan noted that the execution of the project is to the benefit of all and sundry and the completion of the roads would further enhance transportation of agricultural produce from local communities to the urban centers which would reduce farmers' loss to the barest minimum.

She assured the bidders that due diligence would be followed in ensuring the best bidders were selected.

In his contribution, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adetayo Adewale said the roads when completed would ensure adequate food security and reduce rural-urban drift which had plagued the country over time.

 Earlier in his opening remark, the Project Coordinator, RAAMP, Engr. Muritala Adekunle said the bid was made open to avoid conflict of interest, while transparency remains their watchword in the selection process.

Some of the roads bided are Idofin Bode Ase, Agosasa-Idolorisa, Sigo Baido, Tapona, Ibu Junction, Ipakinmore, Itebu, Ago-Isobo, Mamu-Aba Panu Road all the roads cut across the three senatorial districts of the State.

OGUN TESCOM EMPLOYS 100 TEACH FOR NIGERIA FELLOWS

Ogun State Teaching Service Commission(TESCOM) has employed 100 Teach for Nigeria Fellows to complement the teaching staff on its payroll, for posting to Secondary Schools in the State.

Addressing the employed teachers at the commissions' Conference Hall, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Dr. AbdulWaheed Olanloye, charged them to reciprocate government gestures by being alive to their responsibilities, punctual, hardworking, and role models to students, appreciating Governor Dapo Abiodun for its unflinching support to the commission towards addressing the shortage of teachers.

He said the exercise would be continuous to give others the opportunity of employment towards improving human capital development in public schools across the state.

Also speaking, the Director, Appeal, Petition, and Discipline in the commission, Mrs. Marian Ogundare, enjoined them to maintain cordial relationships with teachers in the schools where they would be posted, urging them to be resourceful, adapt to the peculiarities of the schools, and explore the communities in which learners are residents.

Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Damilola Ishawunmi and Mr. Gabriel Akintunde thanked the State government and Management of Teach for Nigeria for the opportunity, promising to adapt and discharge their duties as expected.
