 ADO- ODO/OTA LG  ORGANISES WORKSHOP FOR BARBERS ON HYGIENIC  PRACTICE

In a bid to eradicate health hazards and other communicable diseases customers are exposed to in Barbers' shops, the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government in conjunction with the Local government chapter of the Ogun State Barbers Association of Nigeria (OSBAN), has organised a day workshop to sensitise professional Barbers on hygienic practices that will ensure customer wellness across the council area.



Declaring the seminar titled:  " Capacity Building And Hygienic - Health Talk", opened, held at Chief Nasir Deinde Memorial Hall of the Council Secretariat, the   Chairman of the Local Government Council, Engr. Sheriff Adewale, said the training was imperative in order to educate and change the poor barbering practices and treatment of customers' hair which has exposed lots of unsuspecting people to infections such as; barbers itch, skin rashes, skin cancer, and keloid among others.                     

 He said, "It has become imperative to organise training like this, having seen people with skin bumps among other fungal infections, adding that there is a need to curb the poor barbering practices and prevent biological hazards customers are unduly exposed to in the course of their practices".

          The LG boss appreciated the Barbers' Association for the massive turnout of its members during the training, urging them to always be hygienic and improve their service delivery by making good use of the health tips among other opportunities being provided by the Local Government and OSBAN for the development of their profession.

 The Director of Water and Environmental Sanitation of the Council, Mr. Omoroga Godwin, said the workshop was tailored to focus on the Barbers' healthy practices as it concerns the adverse effects of the poor practices and safety measures in the discharge of their duties to their customers.

The Chairman of the State Barbers Association, Ado-Odo/Ota Chapter, Mr. Abdul Rasaq Yekeen appreciated the Engr. Sheriff Adewale Musa led administration for the initiative and support given to their Association, towards improving the standard of operation in the council area.

 He promised that his members would abide by the health tips among other hygienic training received at the workshop that would promote healthy haircuts and reduce the spread of infectious skin diseases to customers.
