HoS INAUGURATES COMMITTEE TO DEVELOP INDUCTION, ORIENTATION MANUAL FOR PUBLIC SERVICE

Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun has constituted and inaugurated an eight-man committee to design and develop an induction and orientation manual for the State Public Service.

Inaugurating the committee in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Mr. Fagbohun remarked that there is a need to standardise the onboarding process of new recruits into Ogun State Public Service to sanitise the whole system.

The HoS pointed out that there is a need to learn the ethics, culture and values of civil service by all entrants which are lacking in civil service, hence the approval of the State Governor to constitute the committee that would design a manual to ensure that every new employee of the Ogun State Government goes through a consistent onboard process, receiving the same essential information about the public service, its policies and procedures.

He said the manual would also outline the expectations of the public service, code of conduct and work policies to help new employees understand their roles, responsibilities and behaviour standards, towards reducing the likelihood of misunderstandings or conflicts among other things.

The Head of Service added that since the committee is saddled with a pioneer job, it requires people with sharp intellects who are cerebral, dedicated and have a genuine interest in the civil service at heart, hence the composition of the committee.

Responding, Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Adekunle Adegbite thanked the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for finding them worthy of the assignment, adding that it is an important job that must be handled with all seriousness and diligence.

Alhaji Adegbite who is a retired Permanent Secretary said the induction and orientation manual is necessary as it would be done in order to put the fit man on the job and help correct many anomalies in the civil service.

Other committee members are, a retired Permanent Secretary, Mr. Lateef Owodeyi, Mr. Oyejola Oyeneye, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Adeola Awoyomi, Mrs. Olubunmi Oso, Mr. James Mafe while Mr. Oluwasanmi Ajayi will serve as the committee secretary.

The committee has 60 days to submit the manual draft.
