 MLG&CA ASSURES OGUN ASSEMBLY OF CORDIAL WORKING RELATIONSHIP 



Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat has assured the Ogun State House of Assembly of his Ministry's unwavering resolve to maintain cordial working relationship with the legislature, as both were striving to give their best to the people of the State. 


Hon. Hamzat stated this while playing host to the Assembly’s House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy who came on a familiarization visit to his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying, the Ministry had so far enjoyed good working relationship with the Committee in resolving Local Government and Chieftaincy issues.



The Commissioner assured that the Ministry under his administration, would embark on monitoring to all the 20 Local Government councils for project evaluation to justify the grants released to them.


He emphasised that it was the responsibility of the Ministry to monitor activities at the councils, to ensure judicious use of funds released by the State government for the execution of projects.


 "The plan was that by the end of the year, the 236 wards in the State must have at least a project to boast of", the Commissioner noted.


In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Kolawole Fagbohun, said, the State Government does not in any way tamper with Local Governments funds, adding that the State had rather on several occasions come to the aid of the Councils whenever there are shortfalls in their monthly allocations.


The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Lateef Bolanle appreciated the Ministry for its determination at ensuring that both the councils and traditional institutions in the State were well taken care of, monitoring exercise on the activities of the council chairmen in order to make sure that grants being released by the State Government were adequately utilized for the betterment of the people especially those at the grassroots.
