HMB TRAINS JUNIOR CADRE OFFICERS FOR EFFICIENCY

The Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Dr. Quudus Yusuf, has said the agency is intensifying efforts at ensuring that messenger, clerical assistant, and driver cadres are abreast of new trends in discharging their duties efficiently.

Dr. Yusuff made this known in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, while declaring open, a day training workshop for officers in the cadres, stating that the programme would help the Board address some abnormalities that might arise in the course of performing their jobs.

The Permanent Secretary emphasised the need to achieve the vision of the Board in line with the agenda of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration on the provision of affordable and qualitative healthcare delivery.

Yusuff said "indeed, your duties are very important to the Board. Whatever job you are employed or assigned to do should be taken seriously, to prevent any lapses in the course of doing them’’.

In his presentation, the guest lecturer, Director, Welfare Matters in the Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Yinka Adeduntan, who delivered a paper titled: "Code of Conduct for Civil Servants" said it was essential for the officers in the cadres to follow rules and regulations guiding the conduct of their schedule of duties, admonishing them to be law-abiding and submissive to their superior officers.

According to Adedutan, "to be forewarned is to be forearmed, you need to abide by the constituted authority, provided you are still serving under that authority, so you should be tolerant, instructive and be humble at all times".

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mr. Abdul Omotoso and Mrs. Olabisi Adeyemi said the training was an eye opener, lauding the Board for the initiative and opportunity to partake in the training as it would impact their daily activities.

Other papers presented at the training were, Discipline in the Service, Stress, Crisis and Behavioral Management and Safety on the Road: Expectation from Government Drivers and Discipline in the Service.
