 ABIODUN DESCRIBES FORMER HoS DEATH AS A LOSS

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described the demise of a former and the 17th Head of Service in the State, Engr. Olanrewaju Bisiriyu as saddening and a loss to the State.

Governor Abiodun made this known when he paid a condolence visit to the deceased family in Abeokuta, saying the late Bisiriyu was an astute administrator and a key player in the ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda of his administration and had left an indelible mark in the affairs of the Civil Service and the State at large.

Abiodun, who noted that the virtues of the former Head of Service could not be forgotten, prayed for the repose of his soul, and the family, particularly the wife and children he left behind.

Responding on behalf of the family, the deceased’s son, Mr. Samod Bisiriyu appreciated the Governor and his team for identifying with them, saying his father’s death had created a vacuum in the entire family.   

Engr. Bisiriyu was appointed and sworn in as the Head of Service by the immediate past Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on January 3, 2019, making him the first Engineer to be appointed as HoS in Ogun State.

In the entourage of the Governor were his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, some members of the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries in the State Civil Service.

          YEWA/AWORI INDIGENES THUMB UP ABIODUN’S STRIDES

    Stakeholders from Yewa and Awori extraction of Ogun State have applauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for keeping faith with promises made to the people of the area through the implementation of impactful projects and programmes.

   This was revealed in Ilaro during a divisional town hall meeting for Ogun West Senatorial District on the 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and year 2023 Budget.

Speaking, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Olugbenle described Governor Abiodun as a distinguished administrator who was committed to the provision of dividends of democracy across board through rehabilitation of existing roads, construction of new roads, affordable housing schemes, effective health care interventions, establishment of women and youth empowerment programmes, among others.

Also speaking, the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) AbdulKabir Obalanlege who appreciated the present administration for the prompt intervention and methodical approach towards fixing Federal highways, such as the  Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta, Ota-Idiroko and the Atan-Lusada-Agbara expressway, as well as township roads within the axis, called for the rehabilitation of bad portions of the Obafemi Awolowo and Joju Ota roads, among others.

In her contribution, a former Deputy Governor in the State, Alhaja Salmot Badru lauded the "Oko’wo Dapo" initiative for traders and market women in the State, as well as the strategic youth empowerment schemes, and many more, urging the Governor to address the teacher-learner ratio in schools.

On her part, the Iyaloja-General of Yewaland, Alhaja Yemisi Abbas also commended the present administration for the innumerable support to traders and the entire womenfolks in the area, appealing to the Governor to address the multiplicity of taxes in markets and rehabilitation of market roads, construction of toilet facility for the greater economic prosperity of the area.

 Responding, Governor Abiodun said the road infrastructure and other projects were in tandem with the decision of his administration to construct all connecting and access roads between Ogun and Lagos to tap the economic advantage of both States.

The State helmsman maintained that Yewa division remained the industrial hub of the State and country in general, hence the need to ensure good road network, revealing that the Ray power-Ikola-Ota road was among the first to be commissioned by his administration in the State, assuring that "as soon as the rain subsides,  palliative works and grading of rural roads will commence across the zone”.

Abiodun acknowledged the people’s inputs, requests and suggestions, as they would be given priority in the  2023 budget, saying no area would be developed at the expense of the other and enjoined them to be resolute in supporting his administration towards achieving good governance.
