 INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION, TIME FOR APPRECIATION AND REFLECTION-ABIODUN 







Governor Dapo Abiodun has said the Indepence anniversary celebrations affords the opportunity to appreciate the founding fathers of this country and reflect positively on the journey so far. 


Making this known during the special church service to mark the 62nd National day Celebration of the Federal Republic of Nigeria held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, he added that it creates an innate awareness of what needed to be done to build the nation going forward. 


Represented by his Deputy,Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Gov Abiodun noted that celebration of nationhood was a celebration of oneness charging all to remain committed to the unity of Nigeria as a whole. 


He revealed that living in a society heterogeneous in nature with various ethnic groups there was need to ensure that all times, we don't allow our differences to be erode our reasoning as everyone had an active role to play on the overall upliftment of Nigeria. 


Reiterating his administrations dedication to being equitable fair and just in providing all round development in the state in a bid to making it the envy of other states in the country, Abiodun assured that he was also committed to creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive as well security of lives and property. 


While asking for continued prayers for the  Executives of both Federal and States in the country for God's guidance, the states helmsman called on the citizens to be actively involved in the forthcoming election process in determining who their next set of leaders will be informing that this will help in strengthening Nigeria's lasting democracy. 


In his sermon, the Diocesan Bishop of Awori Diocese, Rt. Rev Dr Johnson Akin Atere congratulated  President Muhammad Buhari and the Governor Dapo Abiodun on the occasion of the 62nd national day celebration, praying that God grant them  more grace to witness more and successfully run their tenures. 


The Revd. noted that the reason nigeria is still crawling at 62 was due to sin of hypocrisy, unlawfulness, adolatory, hatred, oppression, greediness, imploring those in government to put God first in all they do, as failure to do so, might hinder the country from developing.  


According to him, 'not until we all play our parts, we have no reason to blame the government, so i want to urge everyone as we prepare for the forthcoming general elections, to vote for the candidates of your choice at both federal and the state level. Let me also charge christians as ambassadors of christ to continue to pray for government at all level  as well as preach the gospel of God without seizing'.  


Prayers were then offered for the Nation, State  and the State government.
