 ZONAL EDUCATION OFFICE.ADO-ODO/OTA ORGANISES WORKSHOP ON SECURITY

The Zonal Education Office, Ado-Odo/Ota has organized a day workshop on ways to curb insecurity and threats in schools, where education was seen as a pre-requisite for societal reformation and development.



In his paper presentation at the event on the topic, "Bullying Admist Other Security Threats; A Challenge To The Education Industry, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry Of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr Olu Aikulola, said bullying is a rising trend globally which threatens the educational sector and making it unconditionally be for teaching and learning.





He identified hazing, physical bullying, emotional bullying, verbal bullying, cyber bullying, sexual bullying, as various forms of bullying, which he noted stems fr bad parental background, unhealthy school environment, socio-economic status, peer group pressure bad tachers' attitudes, amongst others.



Also speaking, Dr. Olalekan Ajayi from Topkia Hospital, Olose, Ifo,  explained that psychosomatic disorders are mental ailments that cause a scene of distress and deficit in functioning characterised by anxiety, depression or other feelings of unhappiness or distress capable of making an individual misbehave or disturb other people's safety.



He enjoined people to ensure proper management of their health and prompt treatment of illness through, medications, regular contact with care provider and referral to a specialist in mental health.



Earlier, the Zonal Education Officer, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Governent, Mr Olugbenga Kikisuhu described education as a powerful weapon capable of effecting positive changes, enabling people overcome challenges and pave room for a better society.
