We'll Support VIO To Determine Motorists' Road Worthiness - AOOLG BOSS
The Executive Chairman Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adewale Musa has urged all Motorists including both private and commercial for test at the Vehicle Inspection Office testing Center at Ijoko road of the council area which will not only serve as yardstick to reduce road accident to the bearest minimum but, also improve life expectancy.
The Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Musa made this statement when the newly posted Ogun West Zonal Commander of the VIO Engr. Mrs. Olugbenga Oluwatoyin paid a courtesy visit to the chairman at the Local Government Secretariat, Ota.
Musa added that as the Chief Security Officer of the Council Area, he will not only give his maximum support aswell ensure enforcement of vehicular testing by the VIO in the Council Area saying that this was necessary to reduce road accident to bearest minimum if not eradicate completely.
According to the The Zonal Commander Ogun West VIO Engr. Mrs. Olugbenga Oluwatoyin "People should understand that when they pay for Road Worthiness Certificate, there is always an attached referral note indicating that the vehicle be taken to VIO Testing Centre which most people out of ignorance have always over look.Now, Ogun State Chapter of Vehicle Inspection Office has threatened to take drastic actions against any vehicle operating across the State without Inspection Certificate".
Engr. Mrs. Olugbenga Oluwatoyin said the gesture was part of the efforts to reduce accidents on the roads in the State adding that the Inspection Certificate would be used to determine vehicles that are safe to move on the roads.
She explained that the test has been paid for along with Road Worthiness Certificate meaning that if one has paid for Road Worthiness Certificate the test would be conducted without any further charges.
Engr. Oluwatoyin added that testing of vehicles has improved from manual to computerised checking to alleviate human error saying serious sanction awaits offenders.
The Head of Local Government Administration Dr. Adebola Bamgbose appreciated the newly posted commander for the timely visit to the Council assuring her of the Local Government cooperation in sensitising the public on the need for motorists to get their vehicles checked.
