A call has been made to all the Stakeholders on waste management to ensure quality service delivery through out the nooks and crannies of Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government area.
The Executive Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota LG, Hon.Sheriff Adewale made this call during a stakeholders meeting with Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN) in his office at the local government Secretariat, Ota.
The LG boss said it has become imperative to be proactive, given the news of cholera outbreak in some parts of the state stressing that it will be disastrous if such happens in this axis due to huge population density.
According to him “the time is now for all concerned authorities to be on high alert on the issue of waste management in our local government Area. This indiscriminate dumping of refuse must stop immediately. We cannot open our eyes and allow the bad ways of others to jeopardize the health of the entire people”,
“as a government, we are ready to act and we will facilitate all that is required to work hand in hand not only with the stakeholders but everyone interested in order to keep our Local Government Area clean and safe for all of us.”
Responding, the Chairman of AWAMN, Ado-odo Ota Local Government, Mr Jolaoluwa Emmanuel, called on both the State government and Ado-Odo Ota Local Government to help all contracted operators in sensitizing the people, mobilizing support, capacity building and enforcement of waste management law to help them discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.
