OGIRS APPRECIATES AND RECOGNISES TOP 5 TAX AGENTS.
As a way of appreciating and encouraging all tax compliant agents in the state, the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) organized a cocktail party at Abeokuta .
The Honourable Commissioner For Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr Dapo Okubadejo in a goodwill message expressed his delight in the organisation of the program which to him was a way of getting closer to taxpayers, improve relationship and share ideas and recommendations that may further improve service delivery in the journey of taking the state to an enviable height among comity of states.
Okubadejo said the contribution of Private Public Partnership in generating resources for economic development of the state can not be downplayed which explained the mechanisms put in place by the government to encourage investors
" Government can not function without private sectors collaboration and so it beholds on us to put in place all necessary mechanisms to attract , encourage and intensify private sectors to do business with us in Ogun state by creating enabling environment, removing all red tapes and bottle necks to actually provide seamless and efficient service delivery for private sectors" he said
In his speech, the Executive Chairman OGIRS, Mr Olugbenga Anthony Olaleye reiterated the statutory and legal bidding of payment of taxes in any governance all over the world and noted that sustainable development could only be achieved when all taxable adults pay appropriate taxes as and when due.
" Tax is statutory. We all know the revenue allocation in Nigeria is reducing and the only sustainable source of revenue for any government is taxation, as people will always be there to give back to the government to get the economy moving".
Earlier, the Special Advisers to the Governor on Revenue , Mr Adegbenga Adeshina in his welcome address commended the stake holders' willingness and Commitment to support the vision of the present administration and said the program was to avail them an insight into digitization of all transactions in OGIRS
While giving the vote of thanks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Revenue, Mr Abiodun Adeleye said digitalising all tax processes would enhance ease of doing business especially expansion of tax net and collecting appropriate taxes from all taxable residents in an efficient and transparent manner.
Mr Okorie Emmanuel a representative of JP Industry Limited appreciated the state government for recognizing and appreciating them saying the event was first of it's kind.
Present at the events were Dangote Cement Transport, CCECC Nigeria Nigeria Ltd, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro amongst others while awards were given top 5 Tax agents in the state .
