Trace Orders Removal Of Abandoned Vehicles In Ota Axis
In a bid to pave way for the smooth operation of on - going repairs of Ota- Idiroko road by the Federal Road Maintenance Agency ( FERMA),Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has ordered immediate removal of abandoned vehicles throughout the nooks and crannies of the axis.
Communicating through a press release, the Chief Executive Officer, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Cdr. Seni Ogunyemi, who has directed that all abandoned vehicles, especially those parked on road shoulders due to disrepair or left indiscriminately should be removed adding that some had turned the roads into their mechanic workshops, parking bay, showroom for the sale of cars and garages to await passengers.
According to him, “Now that the Federal Government has in partnership with the Ogun state government decided to repair the road, it is imperative that we corporate with them to ensure that every encumbrance on their part to doing a good job and completing it within the schedule are removed.
“You will recall the level of public outcry against the poor state of that road from Sango under the bridge, all the way to Atan.
“I have directed our Area command office in Ota to constitute a special team to commence the immediate towing of such vehicles and removal of other illegal structures standing on the shoulder of the highway.
“Whoever that would not heed this initial warning may likely face prosecution after their vehicles or structures are removed.” He added.
The Area 4 Commander, Cdr. Adekunle Ajibade, added that he equally commanded that they should carry out a sensitisation exercise to alert the public on the need to pave way for the maintenance agency to do effective work on the road, before embarking on enforcement in line with his directives.
