OGIRS URGES EMPLOYERS OF LABOUR ON PROMPT REMITTANCE
The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has urged employers of labour to ensure immediate remittance of applicable taxes, deducted on behalf of their employee’s residing in the State, as failure to do so will attract 10 percent penalty of the amount, including interest at the prevailing commercial rate.
In a public notice signed by the Executive Chairman, OGIRS, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye, stated that employers of labour were bound by the Personal Income Tax Act (PITA), to deduct and remit emoluments of its employees to the State Internal Revenue Service, not later than 10th day of the succeeding month and forward a payroll schedule, containing names, salaries paid, gross emolument and deductions made monthly.
