OGUN SET TO COMMISSION OVER 120KM OF ROAD ACROSS THE STATE
In fulfilment of his electioneering promises to deliver durable roads to the residents, Ogun State Government has concluded plans to commission over 120km of road across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya made this known in a media chart at his office in Abeokuta.
Akinsanya, said the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in his resolve to put in place good road network, would commission not less than 12 roads across the State, to mark his second year in office, while maintaining that the quality and standard of the roads would not be compromised.
According to the Commissioner,the roads earmarked for commissioning include, the reconstruction of 7km Imasayi- Igan-okoto-Ayetoro- Ibooro road in Yewa North Local Government Area, 3.8km Raypower Osi- Ikola Navy Command road in Ado Odo/ Ota Local Government Area, 14km Ijebu Ode - Epe road ,which cut across Ijebu- Ode, Molipa/ Fusigboye/ Ojofa street, 4.7km Oru- Awa Ilaporu- Ibadan road in Ijebu North Local Government Area, among others.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Babatunde Adesina has emphasised on the need for citizens to take ownership of road infrastructure provided in their domains.
Adesina dropped the hint on a radio programme in Abeokuta, saying the people should not hesitate to raise alarm in case of vandalisation, and avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages, urging them to imbibe maintenance culture, as a way to protect government’s properties.
" The State government has invested hugely on Infrastructure, especially on road, it is expedient of us as citizens to protect them from being damaged by unscrupulous individuals’’, he said.
The Special Adviser stated that the present administration would continue to provide necessary infrastructure that would have direct impact on socio- economic development of the State, assuring of government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of the people and ease traffic on the roads.
