RURAL DEVELOPMENT: IJEBU NORTH EAST COMMUNITY GETS SOLAR POWER KITS

 In furtherance of the desire to spread dividends of democracy and make living more comfortable, the Ministry of Rural Development in Ogun State has distributed Solar Energy kits to residents of Ehin-Etiri village in Ijebu North East Local Government, in the Ogun East Senatorial District of the State.


Speaking while presenting the item, Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, said the kits would enhance domestic activities of the dwellers and further increase agricultural engagements, particularly, palm oil production, which is their predominant occupation.

Oludotun, represented by the Ministry’s Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Adekunle Oyesanwen, said with the distribution of the solar home energy kits, the issue of power supply in the community which had been lacking would be a thing of the past.

He said, "we are distributing these solar power home kits to your village, because we heard you produce palm oil here, and I am sure that the solar power will help your business, especially when you are doing the palm oil.

"The present administration is interested in boosting the economic activities of the people, and this is one of the ways to show that we can assist this community to increase the scope of your agricultural production. It would also help you to light up your rooms at night, listen to radio and music and charge mobile phones’’, he added.

Earlier in his welcome address, Director of Rural Electrification in the Ministry, Engr. Ismail Balogun, urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the kits, and handle them with care to ensure longevity.

 In his remarks, the village head, Prince Mufitau Adebanjo, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries said the gesture would advance their living conditions, promising that it would be properly maintained.

It will be recalled that the Ministry has recently made similar presentation of the Solar Energy Kits to communities in Ogun West and Ogun Central Districts of the State.
