 OGSG DISTRIBUTES SOLAR POWER KITS TO YEWA SOUTH LGA

In furtherance of the desire to make living more abundant in rural communities, the Ogun State Ministry of Rural Development has distributed hybrid solar power energy kits to dwellers of Iwogia village, Ilaro, in Yewa South Local Government Area of the State.


Some weeks ago, the Ministry flagged -off the distribution in Atapa Elelubo Ishaga village, with a pledge to get it across to rural communities in the 20 Local Government Areas.

  Commissioner for Rural Development, Engr. Oludotun Taiwo during the event stated that the project would help in processing farm produce and domestic use, as well as attract investors to rural communities lacking electricity.

Oludotun, represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Adekunle Oyesanwen, said the decision was part of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration, to turn around the fortune of the State.

"There are various ways we can get electricity to rural communities that is far from the grid, and because of the needs assessment, the State Government deems it fit to provide the solar power kits, in order to empower them and bring economic development to the area, as well as process their farm produce in the darker part of the night and for domestic uses”, he said.

 Earlier in his welcome address, the Director of Rural Electrification in the Ministry, Engr. Ismail Balogun, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the energy kits, handle them with care and ensure their protection against vandalisation.

Responding, Baale of the community, Chief Dele Johnson and some beneficiaries, Mr. Julius Akindele and Dauda Ogudeji appreciated the State government for bringing development to the village, assuring that the kits would be properly maintained.
