A former Principal-General and Commissioner in the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Mrs. Gbemi Onasanya has donated educational materials to the State government, to enhance the performance of students in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Onasanya, while presenting the materials to the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, explained that the teaching aids, which contained Compact Discs (CDs) on WASSCE and UTME past questions with answers could be adopted by schools.
She emphasised on the need to be conversant with necessary rudiments involved in both examinations for students, particularly those in the Senior Secondary three (SS3) class, to excellently perform in their chosen subjects.
‘’I feel so delighted to be able to donate the educational materials for the benefit of students in the State, knowing that Ogun is a pace setter in the field of education and a strong force to be reckoned with.
‘’The Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration is doing so much to keep the flag flying and putting round pegs in round holes, through the appointment of a seasoned educationist, to lead the sector to an enviable height’’, she stated.
While enjoining the students to make judicious use of the materials, she urged them to take their studies serious and shun acts that could jeopardise their future.
In his remarks, Prof. Arigbabu expressed delight for the gesture towards educational development in the State, saying the materials would assist in effective teaching and learning.
Arigbabu promised to make them available to schools across the State, calling on corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to support the ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda of the present administration.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Bosede Ogunleye lauded Mrs. Onasanya for the donation, describing her as a great pillar of support for educational development in the State.
