Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, has assured that his agency will continue to accord necessary support to media organisations, in the dissemination of effective information to the people.
Afuape who made this known while receiving the State’s Media Analysis Team (SMAT), in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the Ministry is aware of the importance of information dissemination, in propagating its activities to the public.
The Commissioner, represented by the Director of Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Adesoji Adewuyi, noted that the management had not in any way undermined the roles of the Ministry’s Information Unit, saying it had been creating conducive environment for media activities to thrive.
He added that the agency would not relent in its effort at ensuring that required logistics are provided for the Unit to function optimally.
“I am assuring you that we will provide support and logistics for the media, particularly our Information Unit, so that members of the public can be fully aware of the activities of the Ministry”, the Commissioner said.
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the SMAT, who doubles as Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Public Communication, Hon. Remmy Hassan, said the visit was to add value to governance, as well as to know how much of government activities get to the public domain through the Ministry.
He affirmed that the media were essential in showcasing the policies and programmes of the present administration to the world and commended the synergy between the agency and the Press Officers attached to the Ministry, noting that the remarkable achievements recorded would not have been possible without the backing of the management team.
In his remark, Consultant to the Governor on Media, Mr. Ifekayode Akinbode, appreciated the efforts of the Press Officers for exhibiting professionalism in the delivery of their duties, urging them to explore advanced skills that could enhance their job.
