TRANSPORTATION: OGUN SET TO OPEN MORE ROADS

Indications have emerged that residents and commuters in Ogun State would continue to have smooth road transportation as construction work on several road networks across the State’s three Senatorial Districts are at different stages of completion, while some

others are being opened-up.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya gave this indication while speaking with OGIS correspondents after an assessment tour,  which took his team to the on-going 7.8 km Obantoko-Fajol American junction road, the 4 km Oba Erinwole dual carriage way and 24.5 km Owode-Ilaro road among others.

Speaking on the ongoing construction work at Elite-Oke-Lantoro road,  Engr. Akinsanya said the project has reached an advanced stage, as laying of asphalt would commence in earnest, while laying of binder course is ongoing on the Fajol-America junction road in Obantoko.

He enthused that the massive infrastructural development by the State government would  spur industrial growth, increase employment opportunities, boost  economic activities, as well as  ease human and vehicular movement.

The Commissioner pointed out that the construction of a monument at the Sagamu-Abeokuta interchange was to signify the gateway to the three Senatorial Districts of the State, serve as tourist site for visitors and citizens with the aim of boosting the Internally Generated Revenue ( IGR).

"The 30 meters high city gate at Sagamu will promote tourism and attracts visitors to the State. The monument, when completed will be furnished with a drive through and water fountain for beautification", he told the OGIS reporters.

Some residents of the area including Mr. Gbenga Kalejaiye and Mr. Kazeem Ademefun who also spoke with the reporters applauded the government for bringing succour to them, noting that the projects would add value to commercial activities of the areas and ease the burden of motorists.
