Ogun State Government has promised to partner with any agency of Federal Government to ensure that the needs of rural dwellers are catered for, to fast-track development at the grassroot.
The State Commissioner for Rural Development, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, gave this assurance today, while receiving a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development, who were on a working visit to the State.
Oludotun in his address, intimate the team that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration, would leave no stone unturned to ensure that people living in the rural areas enjoy dividends of democracy.
He said the Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN) in the Ministry has provided many bore-holes spread across the State, as a way of eradicating water borne diseases and for the betterment of the residents.
The Commissioner solicited the cooperation of people in the selected 13 Local Government Areas, where the delegation would carry out the survey, saying the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs would also render necessary assistance to the team.
Oludotun urged the team to be security conscious when carrying out the assignment, promising that the government would give required support for the team to achieve its aim and objectives.
In his welcome address, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Oyesanwen Adekunle, lauded the efforts of the Federal Government for choosing 13 Local Governments in the State to be part of the programme, pointing out that it would hasten development of the selected areas.
Also speaking, the Programme Manager, RUWATSAN, Mr. Sola Ogunbo, assured the team of the agency’s cooperation.
In his remarks, Leader of the team and Chief Technical Officer, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development, Mr. Audu Paul said the team was in the State to conduct a survey of the needs in Local Government through information technology, applauding the State government for the hospitality.
