Members of Ogun State House of Assembly have challenged Office of the State Head of Service, to evolve more Information Communication Technology (ICT), strategies in driving the operations of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), to further achieve increased productivity, thus making the State retain her enviable position among its peers in the country.
Members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Hon. Olakunle Sobunkanla, threw the challenge while considering the 2021 budget estimates of the Office of the Head of Service, Bureaux of State Pension, Establishments and Training, Service Matters, as well as Public Service Transformation Office, as presented by the State HoS, Alhaja Selimot Ottun at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The members tasked the State Hos and Permanent Secretaries including Lydia Fajohunbo, Dahunsi Ogunleye, Kola Ogunlana and Oladehinde Olukunle, to leverage on partnership with multilateral agencies with a view to tapping on the gains and rich potentials offered by advanced technologies, at reforming the State public service for optimum performance.
According to them, such shared reforms would support organs of government in its quest at delivering on their mandate and lofty ideas, as encapsulated in the ISEYA mantra of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration.
Responding, the Head of Service assured the lawmakers of establishing level of partnership with developmental partners to provide prompt and efficient service delivery towards achieving set agenda, while putting in place innovative measures at increasing and sustaining the morale of workers to further ensure improved performance.
For the next fiscal year, the Head of Service, presented a total budget estimate of N257.8m to include N98.7m for capital projects and N159.1m to cater for recurrent expenditure with expected revenue of N10.82m.
Presenting the estimate for the State Bureau of Establishment and Training, Alhaja Ottun assured that the bureau would continue to improve on its capacity programmes and improve staff welfare under its purview towards ensuring compliance with all statutory provisions and improved efficiency beyond the next fiscal year.
To achieve the foregoing, she proposed N37.05m for capital projects, while recurrent expenditure would gulp N170.4m with N36.3m revenue expected to be generated into government's coffers next year.
The Lawmakers also considered the 2021 budget proposal of the State Civil Service Commission as presented by its Chairman, Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi and that of State Ministry of Justice, Judicial Service Commission and State Bureau of Pensions, among others.
