Efforts By Govt.,Others On Upgrading Of Health Facilities Yielding Results- Deputy Governor.

 


The collaborative efforts of Ogun State Government and non- governmental organisations are now yielding results to further better the lives of residents throughout the nooks and crannies of Ogun State.



The Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele made this statement during the official commissioning ceremony of the upgraded Lions Eye Centre at the State Hospital, Ota.




Lion Noimot Salako-Oyedele said the present administration in Ogun State has seen to the immediate upgrade of facilities in the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary hospitals adding that partnering with Non - Governmental Organisations is a welcome development under the tutelage of Governor Dapo Abiodun as government alone cannot do it.



Responding, the District Governor, District 404B1 NIG, Lion Lynda Odunmbaku said Ota Lion Eye Clinic, since its berth in 2006 helped in facilitating humanitarian service delivery especially in the aspect of Diabetics and Eyes treatment adding that the upgrading was made possible by funding from Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) and Letter- Day Saint Charities (LDSC)



In his speech, the Past District Governor and Ota Eye Center Project Administrator, Lion Lekan Babalola said the upgrade of Ota Lions Eye Centre witnessed the expansion and extension of reception hall, removal and replacement of New Roof, brand new 30kg generating set with housing an fuel tanks, repainting and new air conditioners, great interior including the surgery room amongst others.



"We also ensure the tarrying of road network from the hospital gate up to the eye centre and the surrounding, courtesy Ota Diamond Lions Club. Lion club has also planned project activities for the next six months to include: New Modern EQ+ and standard eye equipment which include ABSCAN, operating microscope, surgical table, indirect ophthalmoscope, hot air oven, cataract set, trial lens set amongst others",he added.



According to him, training of medical officers in handling the new equipments would be facilitated by the club noting that one million people including the neighbouring towns and cities like Ado-Odo, Agbara, Iju-Ota, Itele, Kooko Ebiye Town, Owode, Sango-Ota would be the beneficiaries of the gesture.



Also speaking, the Past District Core Project Lion, Dr. Teslim Sanusi thanked the State Government for signing the MOU which paves room for the club to carry out its humanitarian services adding that he is happy seeing the eddiffies he started in 2006 being upgraded with modern equipments for the utilization of human kind.



In his remark, Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Obalenlege thanked the facilitators for seeking it fit to upgrade the equipments in Ota Lions Eye Centre at this time saying Ota in no longer a town but a city considering the population and development recorded overtime.
