As part of measures to cultail hazards on our roads concerted efforts has been made by the State Government to reconstruct falling Bridges and culverts across the State caused by the July 2020 flash flood.
The Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun on Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Akeem Adesina disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen after monitoring and inspection of some site in the following areas, Ewang road, Omida- ijeja road, INEC-Ijeun Tuntun road, Safari area in Onikolobo, Adigbe- Opako road, among others.
The Special Adviser revealed that the State Government was resolute in it's infrastructural development drive at ensuring accessible roads for it's citizens across the three Senatorial Districts, affirming that the ongoing road infrastructural programs will include standard drainages and asphalting of failed portions along the affected areas as well as the putting up of a solid throwback to control the overflow during
heavy downpour.
He said that the ongoing rehabilitations / reconstruction of waterways are not limited to the State capital, but are also ongoing on Odo Afa bridge in Imeko Afon Local Government area in Ogun West Senatorial Districts as well as some other parts of Ogun East , where flood ravaged in July.
"Following the recent heavy downpour of the rain in July, the State has identified the need to put in place particularly on our roads necessary infrastructural measures to curb untoward hardship for road users. Hence the government is going round to rehabilitate as well as reconstruct the roads where the need arise". The special Adviser said.
A resident of safari, onikolobo area who is also a shop owner where one of the reconstruction of a twin box culvert is ongoing, Mr. Abel Olusegun commending the State Government for a complete overhauling of the collapse box culvert, saying government has shown a genuine interest to alleviate the sufferings of the masses, particularly the road users.
Similarly, Mrs Tojuola Temitope , a resident along Ewang Estate -Idi Aba road gave kudos to the present administration in the State, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun for his timely intervention and quality of work done in the area, she said that the construction would ease passage for residents who had to spend extra on transportation to get to their houses.
A commercial bike operator Mr muisi Jelili noted that, the INEC- Ijeun- Tuntun road which hitherto was impassible after it was washed off by the last flood has now become not only accessible and passable, but a delight for motorists and motorbike operators.
